(July 26, 2011) The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum announces the Premier Ford-Cobra- Shelby Reunion with an exhibit honoring the 50 th Anniversary of the Cobra and a weekend of related events. Proceeds to benefit the Parks Museum and the Carroll Shelby Foundation. “We’ve wanted to celebrate the Cobra for a number of years.” Said Parks Museum executive director Tony Thacker, “The first car was assembled right here in So-Cal at Dean Moon’s shop in Santa Fe Springs and, in 2012, the dates align for an exciting inaugural Ford-Cobra-Shelby Reunion—the first of many because there are reasons to celebrate for many years to come: the Cobra Coupe, The Shelby Mustang; the GT40 to name but a few. The list of activities is still being developed but will include: A new exhibit honoring the Cobra’s 50 th birthday A banquet honoring Carroll Shelby Track time on the vintage Pomona Road Race course (1956-’63) The annual Fabulous Ford Funday “We’re extremely excited about this event,” continued Thacker. “The opportunity to incorporate the Parks Museum and the various facilities here at Fairplex So-Cal is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time. “There’s the old Pomona Road Race course which operated from 1956 through ’63 that saw all the greats race including Shelby, Balchowsky, Bondurant, Ginther and even Mickey Thompson. “There are also high-performance driving schools here, a superb Sheraton hotel and, of course, Auto Club Raceway at Pomona—one of the world’s most famous dragstrips. Put it all together

POMONA, Calif. Founded in 1998 and named for the founder of the National Hot Rod Association, the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports

Museum, presented by Automobile Club of Southern California houses the very roots of hot rodding. Scores of famous

vehicles spanning American motorsports history are on display, including winning cars representing 50 years of drag

racing, dry lakes and salt-flat racers, oval track challengers and exhibits describing their colorful backgrounds.

The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., PST.

Current NHRA members are admitted free and Auto Club members enjoy a $2 discount. Admission for non-members

is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors 60 and older, $6 for juniors six through 15, and free for children under the age of five.

The Museum is also available for special group tours. The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum is located at
