I guess you were right about the dismal economic effect

on LCO's [ Professional Lawn Care Companies ] in On-

tario because of McGuinty [ the Premier of Ontario ] .

I run a medium sized lawn care company, and Ive been

in business for over 20 years in the area west of Toronto.

I am now operating with 60 per cent of my original cus-

tomer base now.

I LOST FORTY PER CENT OF MY CUS-

TOMERS SINCE THE ONTARIO BAN BE-GAN THIS SPRING !

I thought I had a very loyal base, but many customers

didn't see any value in the lawn program if there was no

weed, grub, or chinch bug control.

Sadly, I am still doing much better than many of my

competitors, who have not been able to maintain 30 per

cent of their customers.

SOME HAVE LOST 70 PER CENT OF THEIR

CUSTOMERS !

I will try to do more property maintenance, like mowing,

but this is an area that I loathe.

Many times, by 2 p.m., most of my staff have punched

out for the day already.

My employees are willing to work less hours for thetime being, in they hope things will change.

Mr. Gathercole has been a consultantand instructor for decades. He also been an agricultural agronomist. His involvement in environmental issues reacheda fevered pitch in the 1990s, when he orchestrated, with others, legal action against unethical and excessive mu-nicipal regulations restricting the use of pest control products.
