At Forbo Flooring Systems, the visual concept for our newest collection reflects the world for which the collection has been designed. The beautiful sights, textures and colors found in nature have inspired us to develop a wide variety of color choices to inspire a fresh design for your home.

Inspiring you with color The unique appearance of Marmoleum is achieved through the combination of multiple colors to create a single colorway. Shades that appear soft and muted are achieved by mixing three or four complimentary colors, while bolder contrasting shades combine seven or eight contrasting colors to achieve a deeper more heavily marbled visual. From soft and muted to bold and vibrant, and anywhere in between, Marmoleum has a shade for you!

Earthy - Full of the richness and warmth of nature, earth tones add a welcoming glow to any interior. Vibrant - Full of strong contrasts, these vivid colors create visual excitement. Pastel - Soft and dreamy, pastels create a hint of fantasy and give a delicate, poetic effect. Subdued - Beauty with a sense of balance and charm can be achieved by combining subtle differences of tones and grayish colors. Strong colors of equal value give a subdued and calming effect. Daring - Take a chance. Use bold colors to enliven any interior space.

Inspiring you with qualityMarmoleum is a high-quality product and the ideal flooring for any room in the house, from the hallway, kitchen and children’s rooms, where traffic is likely to be heaviest, to the living room, study or bedroom. And because of the natural ingredients found in Marmoleum, the product continues to harden and become more durable over time.

Because Marmoleum is a natural product like wood, it makes your house snug and warm and is always comfortable under foot. It reaches room temperature quickly and can even be used with under-floor heating.

Marmoleum is a stylish investment that will create a better environment in your home. To find your local Marmoleum dealer, please call 1-800-842-7839 or visit www.forboflooringNA.com

Caring for the environment.

At Forbo Flooring Systems, we care about the environment - on both a global scale and in your home.

Marmoleum’s Environmental Impact on a Global ScaleOur commitment to the environment begins and ends with the renewable, natural ingredients in our Marmoleum. Linseed oil is pressed from the seeds of the flax plant. Wood flour is obtained from lumber industry waste (sawdust) and controlled forests, where every tree felled is replaced. Rosins are harvested from pine trees. The beautiful colors of Marmoleum are achieved by using environmentally responsible pigments. The backing of Marmoleum is woven with natural jute fibers.* Even the adhesives used to install it are environmentally responsible and free of solvents. All of these natural properties cause Marmoleum to strengthen over its life and, at the end of its long life, Marmoleum is biodegradable.

Forbo Marmoleum has good values according to Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). LCA is an evaluation method to determine the environmental impact of a product during its total life cycle. The life cycle of Marmoleum includes raw material extraction, processing, manufacturing, distribution, use, and end of life outcome (including all transportation steps that take place). Because of the positive LCA, Marmoleum is recognized as environmentally friendly by many international environmental quality standards.

Marmoleum’s Environmental Impact in Your HomeMarmoleum helps create a healthier indoor environment. Naturally occurring anti-microbial properties inhibit the growth of many micro-organisms, including allergen producing dust mites and the MRSA strains of bacteria.

Marmoleum also has natural anti-static properties that repel dust and dirt, making it easy to maintain a clean and hygienic home. Dust and damp mopping is generally all the care it will need. If there is a spill, simply wipe it up. For harder to clean spills, Marmoleum Neutral PH Floor Cleaner can be used. Both our finish and cleaner are made from environmentally responsible ingredients.

Marmoleum has a strong, durable protective top layer - Topshield 2. This water-based innovation from Forbo is applied to Marmoleum at the factory. It eliminates the need for initial maintenance and ensures a highly effective shield against dirt and scuff marks.

*The backing for tile is polyester for dimensional stability.4

Flooring Design Ideas

When designing a floor, the first question to ask yourself is “How do I want to feel when I’m in this room?” Alive with color? Sleek and modern? Calm and subdued? The options are truly endless. Your imagination is the only boundary.

This brochure will help you to explore the possibilities of Marmoleum. Chances are if you can dream it, our skilled flooring mechanics can install it. Imagine your home as you preview the following pages. Remember the colors of your walls…and the personalities of those who will dwell within them. Your local dealer and qualified flooring mechanic can help you create the living environment you’ve always imagined...one that fits within your walls – and your budget.

Do you love the ocean? Think blues and natural beige tones. Want to recreate the sunrise? Imagine reds and yellows. Look for the dollar signs ($-$$$$) at the bottom of each page for the general price range of the floor installation featured. The cost of the material will be consistent, but the labor costs can vary greatly based upon your flooring design. The skill level your installer will need is indicated by “Basic,” “Associate Mechanic” or “Master Mechanic”.

One Color Rooms

Single-colored rooms are simple, yet can make a bold statement. Select warm colors to create an environment that reminds you of a bright summer day or an evening sunset. Greens will bring nature’s color indoors. Create a calm and relaxing atmosphere with neutral colors, while blues will transport you to the ocean shores with cool breezes. Want to create a room with urban flare? Greys and blacks emit modern sophistication.

With Marmoleum, no two floors are ever the same. The random marbling processes ensure your floor is one-of-a-kind.

The “busier” the structure, the better dirt concealment you’ll have in high-traffic areas. If you want to hide any seams, plan the seam locations ahead of time.

Square Roots

Marmoleum tiles come in an abundance of colorways. Start with two tile colors and begin your visual experiment. Align the tiles in a grid format for a relatively simple installation. Change the alignment 45 degrees and thetiles take on a diamond shape. Add a third color to create your very own “quilted” pattern. When selecting colors, choose earth tones for a soothingenvironment, or combine brighter shades for a definitive contrast.

Want your room to feel balanced with a subtle charm? Combine different tones of grayish colors with another color of equal value.

For a “diamond” pattern, align tiles on the “bias,” at 45-degree angles to the walls. Because of room dimensions, you can also achieve a border effect using sheet along the wall perimeters.

Rules of Seperation

Every floor begins as an empty space. When we add a visual element to that space, we create spatial relationships between the floor, walls and furniture. Using simple, alternate color borders is an easy way to enhance a room design. A border will frame your floor and walls, or suggest a pathway or transition space. Lighter areas encourage the eye to focus on darker, high-contrast colors and can also create the illusion of space. Darker colors are more dramatic and demand the eye’s attention. Neutral or earth tone colors will make any space more intimate.

For better dirt concealment, use a lighter border with deep or bold colors in the center... or use a colorway that’s busier than it’s border.

MARMOLEUM COLOR NOTE: AMBERINGMarmoleum is made from natural materials and many of its most desirable performance attributes (durability, anti-microbial properties) are the result of the continued oxidation of the linseed oil over its life. During the manufacturing process this oxidation may result in a yellowish cast, known as ambering, on the product when it is initially taken out of its packaging. This visual discoloration is only TEMPORARY. When exposed to light, the ambering disappears. The process may take only a few hours in bright sunlight but longer with artificial light. Applying a finish over the ambering makes NO difference - it will still disappear with exposure to light.
