Santa Clara’s SWAT
At Santa Clara we had our SWAT club help run events that we were already doing within the Sunnyside School District with our Carol White PEP grant , our partnership with the University of Arizona Nutrition Network, and our Fuel Up To Play 60 program.
Examples- Apple Crunch, Go for the Greens promotions with Arizona Nutrition Network and Fuel Up To Play 60 Kick off events and activities such as our Healthy Hunt!
Activities The SWAT (Student Wellness Advocacy Team) club
came up with many ideas which were presented to the SHAC (School health Advisory Counsel). Both groups agreed to commit to and support these activities:
1)Door Competition 2)Fruit and Vegetable Challenge 3)Students and Staff may wear Red or Green t-shirts. 4)Teachers would do activity breaks in class to get
students active. 5)SWAT would run outside lunch recess activities. 6)Cafeteria would serve applesauce and a variety of
other fruits and vegetables this week.
