IT WAS AN IMMEDIATE CONNECTION BETWEEN TWO OLD friends that helped to form the design team of David Miranda and Diana Uribe, who will be the first to admit that opposites attract. Miranda is an avid art collector of rare and interactive pieces and Uribe, otherwise known as “the little builder,” is recognized for her expertise in architectural style that goes way back to her family’s background in construction. With a history between the designers and owners, the team worked well together to build this showcase of visual inspiration. Situated near the Miami Beach Golf Club in Miami Beach, Fla.,

the 2,500-square-foot vacation home was designed with plenty of entertainment space and most important — a place where their love of art could be represented. “My client just wants to support his daughter’s dream of being an artist,” Miranda says.

The foyer is an open space where the family’s art is prominently on display. “Our client wanted to create a foyer that didn’t block the view beyond,” says Uribe of the custom modular shelving that also acts as a room divider. Crafted with a burgundy, powder-coated metal frame, it houses several acrylic boxes that proudly exhibit the family’s eclectic

The living room’s royal blue-lacquer cabinetry is truly a design inspiration. Built around the window, it is adorned with a handblown glass ball of light that reflects its luster. “The piece has a very modular appearance,” designer David Miranda says.

pieces. Adjacent to the unit, a larger-than-life abstract painting shaded in gray by Cuban artist Saidel Brito hangs on a sand wood panel lacquered in a light sand tone. “It’s a reflection of Brito’s own self,” Miranda says of the artist’s work.

Another area of the foyer comes alive with a montage of color and expression in a whimsical painting by Maria Baquerizo, the owners’ daughter. Below, a delicate acrylic console table, custom designed by Dida Home, is centered by a piece of gray marble that appears to float. “We wanted to design a conversation piece that would also enhance the paneling behind it,” Miranda says.

The living room speaks casual elegance with its palette of soft grays and a plethora of fabrics that lend sheer comfort. A silver-gray sectional upholstered in linen is adorned with accent pillows in black-and-white patterns that mix well with other pillows wrapped in fur and velvet. Corresponding lounge chairs are designed with luxurious leather armrests. “All the fabrics are a mix of textures … we love to incorporate many textures into one space along with a bit of soul

Spanning an entire wall in the living room, Sour Lake, a series of photographs by artist Pablo Cardoso,

tells the fascinating story of his travels and how he led a protest to clean up a lake in Ecuador.

In the dining room, horizontal stripes of glass in a variety of widths are not only striking but serve to conceal a TV. “It is a transitional and blended space for a blended family,” Miranda says.

and a lot of character,” Miranda says. The cocktail table from Glass Italia, named the “Ghost,” begins with translucency at the bottom and works its way up to a mirrored top that reflects the elements that surround it. A shimmering silver-striped area rug layered upon a solid gray wool area rug adds an interesting accent.

In the dining room, a dramatic, custom marble table top is the focal point of the space. Designed by Uribe with an angular, black powder-coated metal base, it is topped by three large slabs of marble, two on opposite ends in white that blend seamlessly with a center stripe of black. Poliform’s royal blue armchairs that exude transitional style with contemporary flair are designed with wheels for ease. Overhead, an imaginative light fixture from Lindsay Adelman in brass and glass with moveable branches creates a customized abstract design.

The outdoor area is outfitted with a custom pool encased in planks of durable Resysta and surrounded by lush tropical foliage. A cozy sitting area, fashioned with
