Bio-Digesters

What are bio-digesters?The scientifically designed compact Peepal

bio digester consists of two HDPE tanks (One bigger and One slightly smaller) so that the smaller one can fit into the bigger tank move like a telescope.

The bigger tank serves as a digester and the smaller placed upside down in the bigger one serves as a

“Gas Holder”.There is an inbuilt inlet pipe to facilitate the

pouring of feedstock material into the digester.

What are bio-digesters?The effluent outlets is fixed to the bigger tank and

determines the maximum level of matter in the tank.The gas outlet is fitted to the bigger tank and

directed towards a specially designed bio-gas stove for usage.

A frame structure is sometimes built above the tank to hold the gas tank in position to prevent from tilting or falling down when the tank is full of gas.

It is also possible to put a weight on the upper tank to increase the gas pressure in the tank.

Technology of Bio-digestersThe science behind it: A bio gas plant is a set

of device that converts fermentable organic matter into a combustible gas and matured organic manure

It works by subjecting the material to microbial decompositions in the absence of air yielding methane, carbon-dioxide and water, this process is called Anaerobic decomposition.
