UNIT 2: REACH OUT!
Lesson 1: They want what you’ve got
Lesson 2: Telling your story
Lesson 3: The Main Message
Lesson 4: Words and pictures
Lesson 5: What now??
FOCUS
What’s the big idea?• The good news about Jesus is the only message that
can truly transform lives.
Why does it matter?• A clear presentation of the message of Jesus is
essential for people to receive the forgiveness and new life He offers
How do I live it?• Give a clear, concise presentation of the good news
about Jesus.
LESSON 3: THE MAIN MESSAGE
Part 1: Practicing your story
Part 2: Presenting His story
Last DefinYtion Class …BEFORE you
became a Christian
HOW you took the step to receive Jesus
AFTER becoming a Christian, how has your life changed?
WHY I’m a Christian
HOW I came to be that way
WHAT difference has Jesus made in my life
Thank you to everyone who email your story
BEFORE you became a Christian…
Most of you told this part of the story well
• I was a Buddhist …• I get angry easily … • I was full of vulgarities• I was born into a Christian
family…but I had many doubts
HOW you took the step to receive Jesus ..
..during one of the sermons, for the first time I just felt really convicted in my heart, and felt this weird feeling in my stomach to go up for the alter call for prayer, and that was the first time I knew that God was real, I was standing there crying my heart out. After that camp with quite a few experiences with God it was a start of a change in my life. (Kevin)
..my family was invited to come to Trinity by another relative…I joined the cell and it was only then that I started to find joy in knowing The Lord. (Jean – not her real name)
..the moment I stepped into church and joined the cell for the first time. I felt hope and just an unexplainable sense of belonging that I want to continue on. After which, I decided to come weekly (Sheena)
It can be a single experience or it can be series of experiences that ‘grew’ on you
AFTER becoming a Christian, how has your life changed?
(I have) ..direction in life to work towards to, to walk my life with God, a life that He had planned for me. I'm also able to share my worries and happiness with God and thank him everyday for all that he has done for me and the love He had given me. (Regina)
I learnt the way of prayer, devotion and to seek The Lord. And Jesus did something to my life. ...I have eradicated the habit of saying vulgarities, and started a new life of purity (Sheena)

LESSON 3: THE MAIN MESSAGE
Part 1: Practicing your story
Part 2: Presenting His story
THE GOSPEL
“Gospel” means “good news” or “message of truth”
It’s the true story of what Jesus Christ did for humanity
People need to hear it, we need to learn how to tell it
..for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believe in? How can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard ? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? Romans 10:13,14
For the message to transform lives, people must believe and receive it. Therefore, Christians must share their testimony clearly and be able to explain:
• Why Christ came?• What it means?• How to respond?
I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentiles. For in the gospel a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “ The righteous will live by faith.”
Romans 1:16-17
PRESENTING HIS STORY
What is the gospel of Christ?
Who is Jesus?
So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, who has saved us and called us to a holy life- not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, …
2 Timothy 1:8,9
PRESENTING HIS STORY
Why are some people ashamed of the gospel?
How can the gospel powerfully change lives?
PurposeProblemPenaltyProvisionPersonal Response
Our stories can connect with people and make the good news personal.
But Christ’s message is what changes lives – not just in our words, but in God’s own Word.
KEY ELEMENTS OF GOSPEL PRESENTATION - 5P
#1 : PURPOSE
God loves you and created you for a purpose: to know Him and have a personal relationship with Him
John 10:10
John 17: 3
Jere

h 2
9:1
1
People have chosen to go their own way and fallen short of God’s perfect standard.
That “sin” separates us from God and prevents us from having a relationship with Him.
Isaiah 53:6 Isaiah 59:2
Romans 3:23
#2 : PROBLEM
Our sin is radically opposed to God’s perfect character that it requires the most extreme penalty : death and eternal separation from God.
Romans 5:12
Hebrews 9:22
#3 : PENALTY
Our own imperfect efforts could never bridge the gap between us and a holy God.
But because God loves us completely and has never stopped pursuing a relationship with us ……
He provided the solution to our problem by sending His only Son, Jesus to die in our place.
#4 : PROVISION
John 14:6Romans 5:6-81 Timothy 2:51 Peter 3:18
Jesus paid the price for our sins. But in order for His Sacrifice to be effective for us, we must accept it.
He offers it as a gift, but we must respond by giving Him our lives.
#5 : PERSONAL RESPONSE
John 3:36Romans 10:91 John 1:9
Get yourselves into pairs and practice sharing the Gospel with each other.
