    Tara is a citizen of Couchiching First Nation

    andatribalattorneybasedinWashington, D.C.

    Shewasbornandraised in International Falls,

    Minnesota, and was a triple major at the

    UniversityofMinnesota, whereshealsoearned

    her law degree. Since completing herstudies,

    she has exclusively advocated on behalf of

    tribalnationsatthelocalandfederallevels.

    Her work has incorporated traditional

    knowledge and values, asTara is a long-timestudent of Midewiwin. Her environmental

    justice e!orts have ranged from grassroots organizing and media work to clerking for the White

    HouseCouncilonEnvironmentalQuality.

    She isa co-founderofNot YourMascots, anon-profitcommittedtoeducatingthe publicabout the

    harms of stereotyping and promoting positive representation of Native Americans in the public
