What is a food chain ?

All living things need food to give them the energy to grow and move. A food chain shows how each living thing gets its food. It shows who is eating who. The arrow means "is eaten by" .

Grass ----> Grasshopper ----> Toad ----> Snake ----> Hawk

• What is a carnivore• Carnivores are animals that eat meat ,

such as : cow, pork , chicken , turkey etc.

• The following animals are carnivores : cat, lions, tigers, leopard, eagle, snake, shark etc.

• The following animals are not carnivores : rabbit, rat, ant planktons, whales, humans,etc.

What is biomass?

Biomass is biological material derived from living, or recently living organisms. In the context of biomass for energy this is often used to mean plant based material, but biomass can equally apply to both animal and vegetable derived material.

• What is a producer ?

Plants make their own food out of compounds through a process called photosynthesis that takes place in the leaves. The ingredients necessary for photosynthesis are light, water and carbon dioxide.

plants or other animals. Such as: lion, tiger, giraffe, rabbit, human, monkey, horse etc.

eat meat.• Such as: giraffe, rabbit, monkey,

squirrel etc.

• What is a predator?• A predator is an animal or very rarely

a plant that hunt the other animals • Some of these animals are : eagle,

tiger, lion, shark, wolf, etc.

being hunted.• For example: fish, bird, pig, ect.
