Our community is amazing.

Each day we meet people who are full of strength and hope. People who, in spite of their difficulties, refuse to let their struggles define them. People who care enough about others to help complete strangers, sometimes without ever seeing the impact of their kindness. And people who aren’t afraid to think big and take action.

This year over one million kilograms of food and sixteen thousand hours of volunteer service were donated by caring people in our community. Our team at the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre is honoured to be the stewards of these gifts.

We thank our committed donors, volunteers and the new friends we’ve welcomed over the past year. You are all champions for change. Thank you for believing in the power of community.

A lack of food impacts a person’s health. Health and income are very closely related. It’s a vicious cycle – people with chronic health conditions are more likely to live in poverty, which means they are unable to afford the special diets they require. That’s why we strive to provide the most nutritious food possible.

“I struggled for many months to try to find a job but no one would hire me because I had no experience, then I heard from a

very good friend that I could get experience at the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre. So I went and I wanted so much

to get out in the world and make a living for me and my family. I needed a change and I no longer wanted to be on welfare - I wanted better for my family. So I got in this program called

Creating Opportunities. Here I had the chance to grow so much by learning how to deal with customers and how to work as a

team. I am now working and the job fits me and my family perfect. Because of the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre

I am able to take care of my own family. This is such a great program, it changed my life so much. I am forever grateful to

the kindness they showed and the chance of a lifetime they gave me”.

Here’s why this allmaers.
