Cooking Terms Match

Complete in groups

#1- Mix foods lightly using a lifting motion with two forks or a

fork and a spoon

TOSS

#2- Remove the center of a fruit

CORE

#3- Rub on a tool that separates or shreds the food into smaller pieces

GRATE

#4- Mix ingredients using a circular motion

until well-blended

STIR

#5- Spread a thin layer of shortening or oil on a baking

pan.

Grease

#6- Beat rapidly and make light and airy

#7- Make a mixture smooth by stirring

#11- mix shortening and flour with a pastry blender

or two knives

CUT IN

#12- remove the peeling by using a knife

or peeler

PARE

#13- cook a liquid until bubbles rise continuously

and break the surface

BOIL

#14- cook in a small amount of fat

SAUTE

#15- Gently combine two mixtures by cutting down

through the center with a rubber scraper, across the bottom of

the bowl and up and over close to the surface.

FOLD

#16- heat to just below boiling

SIMMER
