This handbook describes the many ministry opportunities available at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Some ministries are served through standing committees with regularly scheduled meetings. Some ministries are served on an as-needed basis. Some ministries are planned out 12 months in advance. Some ministries are planned the night before. Many just happen. Some ministries require more of a time commitment. Some ministries require working with your hands. Some ministries require working with your mouth. Some ministries require working with your brain…..All ministries require working with your heart.

A different team of chefs show off their culinary talents each month. Another volunteer leads the group in devotions and discussion each month. On average, between 20 and 30 men attend each month. Just show up hungry and compliment the chefs, regardless if you like the food! Ministry Leader: Mike Roberts, [email protected] Golf Outings: Each year, outings are organized at local golf courses and the golfers play a scramble. A scramble format is less formal and allows each team to choose which shot to use for the next stroke, taking pressure off of the beginning golfers. Typically there is an outing in the spring, summer, and fall. Sign-up sheets will be in the narthex and announcements in the bulletin in a timely manner. SPLC Endowment Fund St. Paul established an Endowment fund in 2010. The purpose of this fund is to enhance the mission outreach of St. Paul Lutheran apart from the general operation of the congregation. The fund distributions will be for special mission projects within St. Paul, mission outreach within the community and synod, missions of the ELCA, both in the US and worldwide, and capital improvements, debt reduction and cemetery maintenance at St. Paul. It was created as a vehicle to encourage and facilitate planned giving and to contribute to the stability of the future of the church. It is administered by a separate Endowment Fund Committee. The committee has 5 members who are elected for staggered 3 year terms at the same time as the annual council elections. Current Chairperson: Steve Moyer, [email protected]

Administrative Ministries Office Assistants: This ministry helps our church secretary in the office. Currently, assistants are needed to help with the copier on Thursday mornings when the bulletins are prepared, and also needed for simple data input on a flexible basis. Extra hands are always needed around Christmas and Easter. Ministry Leader: Velda Wise, St. Paul Secretary, 614-882-7601, [email protected] Counters: This ministry is in charge of counting the weekly offering. They typically meet on Monday mornings. There are usually 4 or 5 teams of 3 or 4 counters, and each team has a captain. The teams rotate their schedules and generally count two consecutive weeks, every 10 weeks. Ministry Leader: Richard Martin, 614-855-6874, [email protected]
