The School Education in the USA

• Elementary School • Middle School• High SchoolSchools have separate one-stored buildings.

The aim of education : to develop the talents of both children and adults for their own benefit and that of society as a whole.

Comprehensive Schools

Elementary School

• Students begin studding at school at the age of 5-6• Students have classes from 8:30 a.m till 3:30 p.m• Students attend classes 5 days a week• Elementary school students usually follow a single

curriculum, the chief aim of which is general education.

• Students have classes on Arithmetic, English (foreign language), Literature, Music, History of the USA, Natural sciences, Physical Training, Singing, Drawing, wood or metal work

Middle School

• Students begin Middle School at the age of 11-12• The curriculum is built around required "basic"

subjects : English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Physical Education.

• A student chooses the electives which will be necessary for his/her future work or further education

• Extracurricular activity is also very important in the American school system and is taken into consideration by colleges and universities.

• Results of tests are collected in a school office• No national exams. States have their own exams. In

order to receive the high-school diploma, students must get a minimum number of credits.
