Thanksgiving has come and gone in whatseems to me the blink of an eye. As weapproach the end of 2015, I want to thank allof our members who have patronized ourFogolar over the past year. I hope that, goingforward, more of our members will takeadvantage of our Fogolar services and willparticipate in our Fogolar functions. Cherishand celebrate your Furlan roots which defineyou and make you who you are.

Elections to form a new Board of Directorswill be held on November 29. Please comeout and exercise your right to vote; becomean effective member of your Fogolar. I wish tothank the election committee for its work inhandling the election process which will electmembers for positions on the Board for thenext two-year term. I hope to see many of ourmembers on November 29.

On December 16, we will hold our annualwine and chestnut General Assembly. Iencourage all to come out and enjoy anevening with your Furlan friends.

Fogolar Scholarship winners have beenselected. I wish to congratulate them andwish them a successful future. I look forwardto meeting them at our annual ChristmasBanquet to be held on Saturday, December

19. Call the office for more information or topurchase your tickets for what promises to bea fun yuletide celebration.

Christmas is just around the corner. I hope allwill keep the spirit of our religion and Furlanculture alive and share them among yourfamily and friends. Try to make this season afestive one and participate in the act of givingto the less fortunate.

The election for the 2014-2015 Board of

Directors will be held at the General

Assembly on Sunday, November 29th, at

2 PM.

The positions of Building Director,

Sergeant-at-Arms and Sports Director

will be re-opened for nominations prior to

voting. If you are interested in running for

these positions, please ensure you are in

attendance.

After nominations have closed for the

vacant positions, election proceedings

will begin.

Advance voting is available during regu-

lar office hours from Monday, November

2nd through Friday, November 27th. All

members must present one (1) piece of

photo identification.

We congratulate all of the individuals

who have been acclaimed, and best of

luck to the candidates competing for a

position. Serving on the Fogolar’s exec-

utive committee is an important part in

ensuring the traditions of our Club live

on. We thank everyone for volunteering

The Polenta Gala took place Friday September18 at the Fogolar. There were approximately230 people who attended and the proceeds wentto the House of Sophrosyne (HOS). There waswine tasting (Pelee Island Winery), various typesof polenta on the menu, many auction items andentertainment by Big Louie and the Band.Everyone had a good time and look forward tonext year’s event.

Fogolar CalcioFogolar Calcio concluded their 2015season with their most successfulseason to date. Fogolar Calcio fin-ished 3rd overall in the WindsorSenior Men’s 17-team league with arecord of 12 wins and 4 losses. On Sunday, November 1,2015, the Women’sAssociation held theirannual fall banquet. Theafternoon event wasattended by approximately100 guests who were treat-ed to a wonderful perform-ance by the Gotis diRosade Children’s Choir; adelicious Fogolar meal; andmusic for dancing providedby Musically Yours. TheWomen’s Associationwould like to thank LouVillalta, Tim Mussio and theFogolar kitchen staff, theservers, bartenders, andoffice staff for making thisevent a success.

Nominations and Elections November Meeting

This year is an electionyear. Nominations andelections for positions onthe Women’s Executive willoccur at the November26th general meeting.

Sick Visitor’s GroupThis group continues tomake weekly visits to thevarious nursing and retire-ment homes to spendsome special moments vis-iting the infirm and elderlyliving in these facilities.The group needs more vol-unteers to join them in

these visits. If you have afew hours to spare eachmonth and can join thisgroup, please contact oneof the association’s execu-tive members to informthem of your interest.

Sewing GroupThe sewing group hasbeen busily working awayand recently finishedsewing various items fordonation to various localgroups who will be takingthese greatly needed itemsto various parts of Africa.

The first donation consistedof several young children’soutfits to be taken to Kenyaby “Women Making ADifference” a group ofwomen which Sandra Ellis,one of our association’smembers belongs to.Sandra was presented withthe items at the Septembergeneral meeting.

The second donation ofincubator covers was madeto Dr. Bacheyie. DrBacheyie annually travelsto Africa to spend timeworking in the NICU in thehospital he financially sup-ported in building severalyears ago. The donateditems were greatly appreci-ated by both groups andwill benefit African commu-nities in need!

Gotis di RosadeThe children’s choir will be

performing for the ItalianAmbassador at the Fogolaron Wednesday, November25th. Stay tuned for fur-ther information.

The Fogolar children’schoir, under the musicdirection of Darren Dupuisand choir co-ordinatorMaria Sovran rehearsesevery Wednesday at 6:30pm. If you have childreninterested in joining thechoir, please contact MariaSovran at 519-737-1238 forfurther details.
