FOCUS GROUP FEEDBACK

Pitch ideas

Page 2: Focus group

Me and Eleanor asked our focus group of six media students questions on what we had previously showed them of pitch, and giving them information about the ideas that we have come up with for our psychological thriller trailer, so we asked them eight different questions to get feedback from our pitch and these were the results:

effective for a psychological thriller? Why? 2. Would you want to watch this movie after watching a trailer

based on the plot? Why? 3. In your opinion what is the best part of our ideas for the

narrative? 4. What is the least effective part of our ideas for the narrative? 5. In your opinion what is the best part of our ideas towards the

trailer itself? 6. What is the weakest part of our ideas of the ideas towards the

trailer itself? 7. What would you improve with our pitch ideas? 8. Do you find our ideas to be conventional for a psychological

Jordan Carter1. Yes it sounds very effective for a psychological thriller

because it sounds like a twisted plot with dramatic elements.

2. Yes I would watch the movie because it sounds interesting and exciting.

3. The best part of the narrative is that the main character finds out that he actually killed his daughter because he has schizophrenia.

4. I don’t think I have a least part of the narrative it sounds great.

5. The best part of the trailer ideas is that there will be lots of fade to blacks near the end of the trailer which focuses on the words on the wall, I think this is very imaginative.

6. The weakest part of your ideas about the trailer could be it sounds like a parts it could drag and be quite long.

7. I wouldn't’t change a thing it sounds great although maybe cut parts down so it doesn't’t drag out so long.

8. Yes it sounds conventional because you have the main character who has a mental disorder.

character is the idea that he killed her without knowing.

4. I don’t have a least favourite part of the narrative because it looks entertaining.

5. The best part of the trailer idea is that there is going to be a lot of fast paced editing.

6. There is any weakness of these ideas.7. I wouldn't’t change a thing it sounds really good .8. It does sound conventional because you have lots of

tension building ideas.Name: Tayla Gender: FemaleAge: 18Status: StudentClass: Working ClassFav film genre: Horror

Beth Harrell1. After looking at your pitch I reckon that your ideas are

effective for a psychological thriller , I think this because you have come up with a very good storyline that matches to psychological aspects of the mental disorder schizophrenia and so this makes it sound more realistic.

2. I would want to watch the movie because a lot of thought has gone into the plot and planning and I feel that It sounds terrific with the twist at the plot at the end, with him working out who killed his daughter but the trailer leaves us not knowing, after watching the trailer I would want to go see it just to find out who as it leaves us with questions and hanging on with suspense.

3. The best part of the narrative is that know one understands he is acting like that because of the mental disorder.

4. I love the ideas there is not any worst parts to them.5. The best part of the trailer is the ideas about the sounds,

it sounds like it creates a great atmosphere and adds tension.

6. There are no weak parts in my opinion.7. I wouldn't’t want to change anything, it sounds really

good.8. It does sounds conventional to this genre as it has a

character with a mental disability.

Frankie Wenn1. Yes it sounds effective for a psychological thriller

because there are many different questions that the audience would be asking, and it has a clever plot.

2. I would want to watch the movie because it sounds brilliant and exciting to watch.

3. The best part of the narrative is that that the main character can still see his daughter playing.

4. I don’t have a least favourite part of the narrative at all.5. The best part of the trailer thoughts is that the sound

of the pencil hit the floor hen he drops it sounds really effective.

6. There isn't a weak part of your trailer.7. The only thing I would change is probably having more

exciting parts more earlier on in the trailer because it could drag on.

8. It does sound conventional as it sounds like it could be quite scary to watch, with a mental patient and a storyline that has a twist in it.

Tom Evans1. It does sound effective for a psychological thriller

because it has a man with a mental issue in and this makes part of the ideas sound scary.

2. I might want to watch this because it sounds quite appealing to me and it sounds like it would work well as it has an interesting storyline.

3. The best part of the narrative I think is the part where he finds out that he killed his own daughter after working it out.

4. My least favourite part of the narrative is the part when the character is arguing in the kitchen it just sounds pointless.

5. The best part of the trailer would be the ideas for the editing, but also the costumes sound great and conventional to a psychological thriller.

6. The weakest part of the ideas for the trailer would be the fast paced editing, as it just seems as though it could be quite boring.

7. I would probably add more action filled parts to keep the attention drawn in throughout the trailer.

8. It is conventional for a psychological thriller because it has a main character that has schizophrenia.

Charles Skoulding1. Yes it sounds effective for this genre because it sounds

like it has many parts that are very tense.2. I would watch the film because it s very good and would

appeal to the thing me and my friends would watch.3. The best part of the narrative is that the child is still in the

film but can only be seen by the main character, is her dad.

4. I don’t have a least favourite part of the narrative it sounds good.

5. The best part of the trailer ideas is that the camerawork ideas sound great, how there is so much variation.

6. The weakest part of your ideas would be the middle section because it sounds like not much happens and could end up being quite boring.

7. I wouldn’t change a thing if I was you as it sounds good, maybe only add something interesting in the middle to keep the attention throughout.

8. It does sound very conventional because the costumes, makeup, and narrative all match the genre well and the fact that the father of the family has a psychological disorder anyway suggests it would suit the genre.
