palabra: Crisis significa Cambio.
Bienvenidos!
BRAND NEW AIRThe time has come to change strategies in terms of efficiency and effectiveness, to incorpo-
rate much more innovation in products and services, to redistribute our productive and oper-
ative structures, to select our best market niche, to classify our clients again, to negotiate
debt from short to long term and increase the profitability of our operations by ensuring the
continuity of our firms in the markets.
The word «crisis» has made its place in our everyday vocabulary. Consumption crisis, sales
crisis, financial crisis… CRISIS! We’re currently living through a complicate situation in all mar-
kets in general. Being aware of the reality we must necessarily face, from AEC we’re offering
a proposition for social dialogue so as to stick to the etymological sense of the word: Crisis
means Change.
As we know about the efforts made and the initiative undertaken by employers on the whole,
about the legal, economic and financial shortages and needs which are now reducing the pro-
ductive capacity and its commercial growth, from the Association we demand from all the
agents involved their commitment in order to create new structural policies to reactivate the
economy and guarantee the continuity of our industrial fabric.
New ideas, new concepts to rebuild economy on a decisive basis: to guarantee and ensure our
level of competition.
Welcome!

ENTREVISTA / INTERVIEW ENTREVISTA / INTERVIEW
PedroVives
logía y Know How al sector.

«Futurmoda must becomethe ideal platform to
present the most innovateproducts, the sign of quality
of Spanish components»
PedroVives
FUTURMODA CHAIRMAN
«FUTURMODA, A BET ON THE FUTURE»
Pedro Vives has been in charge of the presidency of Futurmoda for a few months now. The
fair reaches its twentieth edition with renewed aims and with the idea of organising an attractive
event which will serve as an essential tool for both visitors and exhibitors.
HOW DO YOU FACE THE ROLE OF PRESIDENT OF THE FUTURMODA
FAIR EVENT? WHAT ARE YOUR AIMS?
The AEC’s Board of Directors and the Futurmoda Committee have put all
their trust in me so that, in conjuction with and on behalf of the whole
sector of leather, footwear components and machinery, we may be able
to present every six months at FUTURMODA the best choice of products
for the footwear and leather goods sector.
I’m starting this new project with excitement and in the hope of achiev-
ing a positive position for the fair on a national and international scale.
Regarding the aims defined by the Committee, a new period begins in
which employers must respond by actively participating in FUTURMODA
with their presence, for the benefit of the sector and industry.
DO YOU THINK THE EVENT HAS PUT AN END TO A PERIOD IN VIEW OF
THE SECTOR’S NEW SITUATION? WHY?
We’re about to finish a period in fair celebration as we know it in the past
few years. It’s a change that does not only affect Futurmoda, but also all
fairs in general. Business objectives are changing and this means more
than an adaptation, it actually means a sharp shock and a continuous
improvement in offering products and services at all levels. The fair
must then become a model of innovative business.
WHICH ARE THE MAIN CHANGES WE’RE GOING TO SEE AT FUTURMODA?
We’ll be able to see the main changes in November’s edition, enhancing
exhibition areas and introducing at the same time the Trends for the
next Autumn-Winter 2009-2010 season in the «performances or Fashion
Show» format.
FUTURMODA has been evolving with the sector, incorporating improve-
ments until it’s become a vanguard event that lives up to our
exhibitors. And now, more than ever before, given the economic and
financial situation we’re going through at present, FUTURMODA must
serve to help the sector reactivate and strengthen again, for the bene-
fit of both all the agents involved in the process of footwear manufac-
turing and marketing, and also of all those who want to contribute to
its value through the fair.
FUTURMODA must become the ideal platform to present the most inno-
vative products, the sign of quality of Spanish components.
WHAT ROLE DOES FASHION PLAY IN THIS NEW EDITION OF FUTURMODA?
An essential one. We’ve been stating for a long time that the origin of
fashion footwear is to be found in components. In this November edition
we’ll have a wide, comprehensive fashion hall, apart from a colourful,
didactic trends presentation based on the work that’s been performed
from the AEC Fashion Committee with over one year in advance.
Furthermore, during the fair we’ll enjoy the collaboration of renowned
designers who have had their work displayed in the world’s best fashion
shows and whose creations are displayed in the best showrooms and
displays in cities like Valencia, Madrid, Barcelona, London, Tokyo, Paris
and New York.
ARE YOU PLANNING ON ORGANISING A MORE INTERNATIONAL FAIR, WITH
A HIGHER NUMBER OF VISITORS AND FIRMS FROM OUTSIDE SPAIN?
We’re working on the definition of a new event, more open to a wider
choice of products and services. Of course, international projection on
every level is one of the committee’s main objectives.
We carry on trusting our traditional subsectors, and we also wish to wel-
come firms which contribute with technology and Know How to the sector.

SPANISH ECONOMY IS CURRENTLY BEING AFFECTED BY A SERIES OF
FACTORS THAT ARE HINDERING ITS ECONOMIC GROWTH. ON THE ONE
HAND, THE INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL CRISIS AND ITS CONSE-
QUENCES OVER THE PRICE INCREASE AND THE DIFFICULTIES TO HAVE
ACCESS TO FINANCING SERIOUSLY COMPROMISE THE CONTINUITY OF
FIRMS AND LIMIT THEIR CHANCES OF INVESTMENT AND GROWTH.
On the other hand, the weakness shown by international economy is
damaging confidence and expectations, and it’s also limiting growth
chances in the foreign sector. Besides, the collapse of the real estate
market doesn’t only affect the activity and employment in the construc-
tion sector, but it also affects many other sectors related to it in either
a direct or indirect way.
As Spanish economy is especially sensitive to these factors, owing to
the high level of debt, the need for foreign financing, the big weight of
our property market and the strong foreign energetic dependence, the
collapse of activity in Spain is taking place deeply and quickly.
Nevertheless, «there has been a reaction against this situation of finan-
cial crisis, by enlarging the coverage of bonds up to 100,000 million
euros and by creating a fund of 30,000 million euros (that can be
enlarged up to 50,000) so that the Treasury may buy first-quality assets.
This measure intends to enable credit grants for entities, an aspect
which is assessed positively, provided that the money is sent to con-
sumers and to small and medium companies. Another subject to be
taken into account is that of the consequences in the rise of public debt
(which will surpass 43% for all public administrations in 2009) and in
the highest rates of interest issue that may be implicit».
According to what we have already pointed out in CEOE’s recent report
on the economic and labour situation, we must add to the aforemen-
tioned difficulties the fact that «in Spain there is an inflation problem,
which reduces the purchase ability of family incomes and increases non-
financial costs for firms».
Therefore, the fall in activity of Spanish economy is being quick and
deep, and surely, longer than what the Government estimated. The PIB
(gross national product) will reach negative figures, going into econom-
ic recession by the second half of 2008, according to predictions made
by the European Union and other national institutions. This year’s
growth will be inferior to 1,5%, with no headway for employment, and
some private analysts are already predicting a negative growth for
2009, in contrast to the Government’s estimations of 1%.
Within this context, the Government has presented the National Budget
for 2009, when Spanish economy will incur in public debt amounting to
1,9% of the PIB (gross national product) in terms of National
Accounting. For employers on the whole, this Budget is less ambitious
than those from previous years. Housing, the development of the
Dependence Act and unemployment are the issues requiring further
efforts, with increases of two digits. Regarding productive investment,
the endowment for I+D+i (Research+Development) has been much
favoured, though the predicted increase of 6,7% is far from previous
years’ remarkable advances.
Consequently, several doubts are cast upon the implementation of this
budget. In the first place, we must say that the economic scenario pre-
dicted is optimistic. If economy doesn’t reach a growth of 1%, the budg-
et imbalance may be higher due to, on the one hand, the drop in tax col-
lection produced by a lower economic activity, and on the other hand,
the extra costs that result from an intense increase of unemployment or
from straining interest rates in financial markets. Moreover, the trust in
the development of an economic model based on improving production
must be harmonized, as the cost of economic actions reduces its impor-
tance in the budget. In this way, we must stress that the growth in infra-
structure costs, including the management public sector, amounts to
4,5%, which if compared to the cost index of these activities, it indicates
a negative real growth.

Total Activo: < a 2.850.000 euros
FOR THE VAST MAJORITY OF SPANISH FIRMS, 2008 WILL BE THE
FIRST FINANCIAL YEAR THAT WILL END AFTER HAVING APPLIED THE
NEW ACCOUNTS REGULATIONS. 2005 WAS THE FIRST YEAR FOR
THOSE FIRMS THAT BELONG TO HOLDING COMPANIES WITH SHARES
IN THE STOCK MARKET.
Firms have the obligation to show their statement of accounts at the
end of each financial year. Accounts will depend on whether the firm is
subscribed to the General Accounts Scheme (PGC) or to the General
Accounts Scheme for Pymes (Small and Medium Companies). The PGC
defines its structure and offers the patterns for its realization:
Integrated documents: balance sheet, profit and loss accounts, state-
ment of changes in net assets, statement of cash flow and annual report.
FORMULATION OF ANNUAL ACCOUNTS
Annual accounts will be kept every twelve months, except in case of
establishment, modification of the closing date for the social report or
dissolution.
They’ll have to be formulated in a three-month deadline from the clos-
ing date of the financial year, and all the integrated documents must be
identified by clearly indicating its name, the company to which they
belong and the financial year they refer to. Of course, securities will be
expressed in euros.
FULL OR ABRIDGED ACCOUNTS?
The general rule is that SA (Public Corporations), SAL (Limited
Corporations), SL, SLL, Limited Partnerships and Company Stores should
conform with the full model, whereas the rest of corporations and indi-
vidual employers must present, at least, the abridged models.
As a specific rule, we must point out that the corporations with assets
quoted on the Stock Exchange in any market within the European Union
must always present the full formats. The firms that meet specific
requirements, regarding their size, may choose between the abridged
models or the accounts scheme for pymes.
ABRIDGED ANNUAL ACCOUNTS
Balance sheet, profit and loss statement of accounts and abridged annu-
al report for the firms that meet 2 out of these 3 requirements on the
closing date:
Total Assets: < 2,850,000 euros
Annual Net Turnover: < 5,700,000 euros
Average Number of Employees: < 50 employees
ABRIDGED PROFIT AND LOSS ACCOUNTS
The firms that meet 2 out of these 3 requirements on the closing date:
Total Assets: < 11,400,000 euros
Annual Net Turnover: < 22,800,000 euros
Average Number of Employees: < 250 employees
In the last two cases described, these two circumstances must have
been repeated for two consecutive financial years, except for the year
of establishment, in which only the first financial year is subject to
legal fulfillment.

In terms of figures we must stress the fact that in Italy there are over
6,500 firms with about 95,000 employees, distributed in different geo-
graphical areas among which we can mention:
Its annual output is estimated in 245 million pairs, of which over 95% are
exported to its main customers like Germany (20%), France (16%), USA
(10%), United Kingdom (9%), Spain (3%).
Italy imports over 331 million pairs mostly from China (49%) and
Romania (13%).
Just like in Spain, the Italian footwear sector is going through a serious
crisis due to globalisation and relocation of its production towards
countries where labour costs are more cost-effective.
This serious crisis has caused a decrease in production of almost 130
million pairs in the last five years. However, in spite of the difficulties the
sector is undergoing, Italy continues leading the European footwear
market thanks to, among many other factors, the high investments in
creativity, innovation, quality and a philosophy totally centered on the
customer by which Italy is so well-known.
This clearly distinguished position of our Italian rivals has led them to
be crowned as Europe’s first footwear manufacturer, and on an interna-
tional scale it keeps holding a position among the first 10 footwear man-
ufacturers, and among the first 5 exporters.
Nevertheless, these results were not obtained by chance; some good
outsourcing strategies, together with a priority for quality and innova-
tion over other things, have made it possible for the «made in Italy»
trademark to stand out from the others in the international scale.
In fact, Italy can boast about having an international market share of
33% in the segment of high-class footwear, and 28% in the segments of
medium-high class footwear.
The success of the Italian footwear industry is also linked with business
dynamism and the sector’s structure, which allow them to perform inno-
vations in all the steps of the manufacturing process thanks to a net-
work of highly-specialised footwear and tanning manufacturers.
Italy is a clear example of how a good investment in the footwear indus-
try pays by favouring a brand policy, distinguishing from competitors
with fashion and the latest trends as top factors.

EL IVEX PONE A DISPOSICIÓN DE LAS EMPRESAS DE LA COMUNITAT
VALENCIANA SU EXPERIENCIA EN INTERNACIONALIZACIÓN, UNA
AMPLIA INFRAESTRUCTURA EN EL EXTERIOR Y EL ASESORAMIENTO
PERSONALIZADO DE ESPECIALISTAS TANTO EN SECTORES COMO EN
MERCADOS DESTINO.
SERVICIOS INDIVIDUALES A EMPRESAS

IVEX PROVIDES THE FIRMS FROM THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY WITH
ITS EXPERIENCE IN INTERNATIONALIZATION, A WIDE INFRASTRUC-
TURE ABROAD AND CUSTOMISED ADVICE FROM SPECIALISTS IN BOTH
SECTORS AND DESTINATION MARKETS.
The firms from the Valencian Community have the support from the
Valencian Institute for Export (IVEX), the Valencian Regional
Government’s organisation in charge of the internationalization of firms
from the Valencian Community.
From IVEX internationalization is seen as a key element to ensure
competition in the industrial fabric in a moment marked by economic
globalisation. That’s why it aims at achieving complete support, both
economic and strategic, for the firms from the Valencian Community
in the many aspects of their internationalization processes.
Together with the management of three support commands by the
General Direction of Internationalization on which commercial promo-
tion, foreign implementation and brand consolidation rely, there is also
a wide range of services and support schemes with which IVEX enables
foreign openings for firms.
To achieve this, IVEX has got the second biggest autonomous infrastructure
abroad on a national scale made up of 28 offices, 15 Management Centres
and several support points, all present in the five continents. The location
of this wide Foreign Network has been carefully planned according to the
needs by sectors and firms from the Valencian Community.
IVEX keeps a constant renovation and extension of its infrastructure
by opening new delegations and Management Centres, offices at the
service of firms with material and technical infrastructure which provide
global advice on the destination market.
This Foreign Network’s most important asset lies in the market knowl-
edge possessed by its delegates and technicians. Thanks to the exis-
tence of this network of delegations, firms have the support from a staff
who are knowledgeable about the market by means of the development
of their strategy abroad, which turns IVEX’s Foreign Network into a great
asset for firms from the Valencian Community.
INDIVIDUAL SERVICES TO FIRMS
IVEX renders a wide choice of services, adapted to the needs of firms,
whereby it enables firms to know their product chances, as well as help-
ing them to adapt both the product and the strategy devised according
to each market’s features.
IVEX’s Foreign Network’s clerical staff therefore plays the role of an
internationalization department for the firms, performing services at
the request of every firm and trying to meet their needs in each market.
In addition to services, IVEX also performs a series of strategic support
schemes. Among them, we’ll mention the schemes for consolidating
brand and communication policies, access to international biddings, or

FUL, ACCURATE ARCHITECTURE, BASIC GEOMETRICAL SHAPES,
STRONG COLOUR SHADES WHEN REQUIRED; THE RESULT IS NATURAL,
FRESH SOBRIETY AND ELEGANCE.
Berlin is like a nest where movements and proposals are constantly
being born. Their inhabitants are restless, alternative, opposed to any
convention. Thus, we can visit, for instance, a social centre (squatters)
on Oranieenburger street, opposite a Jewish synagogue, have a beer
surrounded by vegetation, recycled furniture, graffiti, accompanied by
people from all walks of life, in complete harmony.
A visit to the island of museums, where we can find the stunning
Nefertiti, is a must. We’ve also got the expressionists at the Brücke-
Museum, Mies Van der Rohe’s buildings (such as the National Gallery), or
the Library and the Philarmonic by architect Hans Scharoun. On
Friedrichst Street we will find the best international clothing brands, and
on Rosenthaler St. there’s a beautiful passage of little squares with trees
where the local designers’ shops are located in a very personal style,
integrating their products into passers-by.
Berlin is an apparently rigid and restrained city. The first impression after walking its streets
is that it’s not a very modern city. Yet Berlin is the most fashionable city in Europe today,
and everybody has sometimes thought of visiting it.

Among German designers we must mention the footwear firm Tryppen,
which successfully represents the Berliner hot scene, a sober character
with an alternative, risky touch, the stylish novelty that captivates you
and that can be purchased in typical stores in Japan, Germany or…
Bilbao.
Berlin has lots of charming spots: plentiful vegetation (majestic parks),
street markets in the squares on the Eastern side, a wide choice of bars,
restaurants and leisure places, an important cinema festival (the
Berlinale), the Postdam gardens and palaces, the techno tradition of
Love Parade (the cradle of the youngest and most transgressor music),
its fashion week, and a long et cetera.
Berlin doesn’t let people down, everybody says so! It’s the cool destina-
tion these days. You can choose between culture and modernity, relax-
ation and party. Nowadays it’s imperative to go to Berlin.

LA RIOJA REPRESENTS AN IMPORTANT MEETING POINT FOR THE
FOOTWEAR AND COMPONENTS SECTOR; FOR THIS REASON, THE
SPANISH ASSOCIATION OF COMPONENTS (AEC) CHOSE ARNEDO AS
ANOTHER SPOT WHERE TO EXHIBIT AND SPREAD THE FASHION
TRENDS CREATED BY THE AEC COMMITTEE.
Arnedo joins the list of cities manufacturing footwear and components
which host the presence of fashion trends. The introduction of new lines,
the explanation and applicability to the collections by firms are the main
features on which the Fashion Committee relies.
Just like in Elche, Elda, Valencia and Barcelona, the idea is to promote
among employers, designers and modellers the basic lines in colours,
shapes and materials of the forthcoming fashion well in advance so they
may apply them to their collections.
«The Essence of the Verb» was presented at the Technological Footwear
Centre in La Rioja (CTCR), with the collaboration of AICCOR, the local
footwear organization, as well as the support from the directors of
industry and innovation of the autonomous government, and there was
a large attendance of employers.

COLORIDO
Gama de colores calientes: marrones, verdes, ocres y rojizos. Oro viejo y cobre.
TEXTURAS Y MATERIALES
Acabados naturales, rugosos, resbaladizos, a veces mates y en otras ocasiones
gelatinosos. Estampados abstractos con multi-texturas. Pieles gruesas, suaves,
Trenzados irregulares combinando diferentes materiales.
The birth of ideas and materials, both natural and artificial, and the coexis-
tence between them, expressing an effect of liveliness that’s kind of wild. We’ll
always have the feeling of acting in continuous development but also respect-
ing our skin. It’s like being present at the birth of a child with all the brutality
and delicacy it involves.
COLOURING
A range of hot colours: brown, green, ochre and reddish. Old gold and copper.
TEXTURE AND MATERIALS
Natural finishes, rough, slippery, sometimes matt and occasionally like jelly.
Abstract prints with multi-textures. Thick skins, soft, glazed, with long hair,
straight or curly, snake, shiny or dusty. Uneven interlacing by combining differ-
ent materials. Powerful yet loving wool, with knots and as if it was handmade.
MOTIFS
Modernization of raw materials such as stones, metal nuggets, bones, skin, pita
fiber, wool and wood to produce big buckles, buttons and motifs which may
seem as being roughly made but altogether delicate.
SHAPES
Motion and a feeling of working with living silhouettes. There’ll be, above all,
boots, ankle boots and kiowas for men, ladies and children. Strong, rounded
lasts, with a little extension, sometimes with thick toes. Strong heels but with
lines, rubber or wooden platform bottoms and rubber, crepe soles.
Here we can see some wild spontaneity, especially as regards materials and
its handling.

EQUAL TERMS ACCEPTING THEIR DIFFER-
ENCES IN GENDER.
Plata y oro negro.
TEXTURAS Y MATERIALES
Finura, suavidad y sutileza en acabados y estampados. Pieles finas, lisas o lige-
ramente afelpadas: box-calf y antes.
ADORNOS
Cierres metálicos, cremalleras, botones-placa, anillas, remaches y ojetes uni-
After any birth the logical thing to do is to process and arrange it. We’ll put
each thing in its place. We’re still looking for equality but we also keep the gen-
der identity that’s typical of people and things. Unisex isn’t fashionable. We’ll
subtly search for curved shapes for her and straight ones for him on the same
design. We’re equal but also different.
COLOURING
Colour isn’t the main feature in this trend, we’ll use a neutral range with white,
grey, beige and cold brown, oil blue and black. Silver and black gold.
TEXTURE AND MATERIALS
Fineness, softness and subtlety in finishes and prints. Thin skins, flat or slight-
ly velvety: box-calf and suede. Technological and synthetic materials like vinyl,
strings and synthetic fabrics will coexist with the aforementioned skins.
Pleating, printing and patterns will follow a perfectly arranged drawing, with
detailed geometrical lines, curved or straight.
MOTIFS
Metallic grilles, zips, sheet buttons, rings, rivets and eyelets will join together
the different pieces of a thoroughly established design.
SHAPES
The study of shapes is the key element in this trend: thorough and accurate.
Each thing is in its place, in short, everything’s in order. High boots, bootees or
ankle boots with plenty of parts. Heels and wedges typical of an architect or an
engineer, sometimes integrated with the shoe’s upper. Lasts with edges follow-
ing basic triangular, square or round geometry.
The result will be simple and clean, sometimes simulating sculptural pieces.

des invenciones y los grandes descubrimientos universales. Pasearemos por
un mundo mágico, aparentemente elitista. Mundo de grandes hombres y de
grandes artistas.
Realizaremos trabajos exquisitos, perfectos.
COLORIDO
Gama aristocrática de colores clásicos: ocre amarillo, rojos cadmio, carmín de
garanza, verdes, azul de Prusia, azul cobalto, violeta y negro. Oro.
TEXTURAS Y MATERIALES
Acabados lustrosos y ricos: irisados, brillantes o con veladuras. Pieles impor-
tantes: napas, antes, tafiletes, cocodrilo, avestruz. Tejidos muy trabajados con
diferentes acabados.
ensamblajes.
tage. Tacones finos o ligeramente gruesos adornados, pisos de suela, a veces
con pequeñas plataformas interiores.
En suma, piezas exquisitas y refinadas.

great inventions and universal discoveries. We’ll walk round a magical world,
apparently elitist. A world of great men and artists. It’ll sound like unattaina-
ble luxury but we’ll turn it into a pleasure for any of us. We’ll produce fine,
perfect works.
COLOURING
Aristocratic range of classical colours: yellow ochre, cadmium red, carmine,
green, Prussian blue, cobalt blue, violet and black. Gold.
TEXTURE AND MATERIALS
Rich, shiny finishes: iridescent, shiny or with veiling. Important leather: nappa,
suede, Morocco, crocodile, ostrich. Very elaborated fabrics with different finish-
es. Velvet, satin, fine stitch. Prints of famous classical paintings, both in themes
and in details, «to make Rembrandt look like the real Rembrandt more than ever
before». Scenes depicting local customs, flowers and frieze.
MOTIFS
Meticulousness in motifs, buckles and artistic buttons, starring golden metals,
enamel, precious stones, marble and crystals.
SHAPES
Elegance, refinement, history and search for perfect lines in shapes and assem-
blies. Modernized classic models: Blucher, T-strap shoes, court shoes, rich
babouches: they’ll look like fairytale shoes at times. Delicate lasts for slim or
square toes, they’ll only be round to create vintage models. Thin or slightly thick
decorated heels, bottom soles, sometimes with small inner platform bottoms.
In short, exquisite and refined pieces.

An escape for the transgressors and the half-caste. After a process of intense
living one needs to go beyond. One feels an urge to violate and assault, but
always from and with love. Love which causes every process of creation, for we
exist in a continuum in an endless process. Like in all previous trends, tranquil-
ity is always present since it originates with our self-acceptance as dominant,
sensible beings.
COLOURING
A mixture of the best from each range: the ancient classical colouring, saturat-
ed, strong shades, strange pastels, dirty grey and of course, black. A touch of
metallic colours.
TEXTURE AND MATERIALS
A combination of contrasted textures: matt-shiny, bumpy-fine, sandy-dusty,
rough-delicate. Multidisciplinary prints: geometrical, vegetation, abstract
stains. A union of all kinds of leather, fabrics and plastics according to the
trend’s philosophy: eclecticism.
MOTIFS
A craze for motifs. We’ll combine pieces of coloured plastic, precious stones,
feathers and leather interlacing to produce buckles, buttons, unions and
abstract pieces.
SHAPES
We’ll be carried away by the madness and the liberty that a great knowledge of
history and materials stirs. We’ll get carried away by freedom, we’ll take the
best from previous trends and we’ll interpret them in a crazier, more aggres-
sive way, there’ll even be a transgression of classic models by maximizing them
with rock and even punk touches.
It’s the funniest, most eclectic trend in which everything can be mixed or com-
bined but in a fine way, the product of a great knowledge of history and materials.

WE CANNOT TALK ABOUT TRENDS IN DECORATION WITHOUT MENTIO-
NING THE CONSUMMATE MAXIMALISM, THAT PURE, NEUTRAL STYLE
WHICH IN THE PAST FEW YEARS HAS BEEN GREATLY CHEERED BY
ADDING A TOUCH OF COLOUR.
With the use of white and grey shades, as well as brown and beige, this
style has been used all this time for giving us spaces full of light, where
there has always been a predominance of straight lines, «less is more»,
quoting Mies Van Der Rohe.
This trend isn’t present in my works, where colour and curved lines, life
and femininity, harmony of shapes joined with harmony of colour are all
predominant features. The resort to the world of dreams, the fantasy
world, a children’s world, they all inspire me and make me think of sha-
pes and colours full of life; this inspiration linked with the marine world
and, of course, with the artistic style in the 17th and 18th centuries, cha-
racterizes my designs and turns them into a cross-current on which
some others and me are sailing, where the prevailing premise isn’t «less
is more» but instead «more is much more». Yes, why not say it? The
truth is my designs live inside maximalism.
It’s a style driven by the use of curved shapes, colour, motley motifs... in
which the components sector can be a source of inspiration and supply
for us professionals.
Synthetics: they can be applied to decoration, to furniture-covering, to sup-
ports, or to the covering of walls and columns, and accessories: they embe-
llish walls, floors and furniture; these are all options which I strongly recom-
mend using for the whole sector, not forgetting about classic stuff like car-
pets manufactured with really special materials, as traditional as new.

TERESA SEPULCRE

Four top Spanish designers such as Alejandro Sáez de la Torre (Porfin!),
Lemoniez, Juan Vidal and Carlos Haro are the artists entrusted with cre-
ating the looks and styling we’ll see in each trend.
AEC’s Fashion Committee has commissioned a fashion trend to each
designer, of which five styles worn by five different models will be cre-
ated. This number is not accidental, each model will be wearing a fash-
ion look designed by all the different components materials:
1. Fabrics
2. Components, accessories, buckles and others
3. Synthetic materials
4. Lasts, soles, flat irons, insoles and heels
5. Skins
These designers, backed by the work performed by fifteen firms of com-

expression of fashion trends through footwear components.
The Hall of Trends has a cosier, more easygoing format in this year’s edi-

We live in the society of shows and entertainment,
where truth isn’t recognised nor imposed. And if life is
a dream, or an illusion, then it’s not fiction but hope.
Our paradigmatic characters are desirous beings,
they’re modern fanatics; they don’t defend their likes
or ideas as though these were universal beliefs, but
they practise their own way of understanding the
world, and if there’s something they all share it’s
their ability to respect.
Their demands are big, their whims are even bigger,
and their ideas seem to be crazy, but never before
had such a large number of wishes been possible.
EMOTIONAL TECHNOLOGISTS
I want technology that’s more humane and sensitive
STRANGE SMART FOLK
I want modern, venomous, disturbing luxury.
WILD YOUTH
I want to burst into the streets, looking for adventures.
THE INVOLVED
I want creation to appear from people’s soul.
