What do you like about Fargo?I like the feeling of community and the friendliness ofpeople in the area. Theyre all really supportive and

    thats been great.Favorite food?

    PizzaRestaurant?

Well, of course it HAS to be Duanes House of Pizza!Store?

ScheelsWhen youre not on the court, what area

events or activities do you attend orparticipate in?

I go to the movies when I have some time,

MSUM football games too. When I was littleand because I grew up in the area I used toattend quite a few Bison games. For fun lastsummer I played on a coed softball team in

    Moorhead.How are your fans?

Theyre very good and weve had great attend-ance this year. We get a large group of students who

get pretty crazy sometimes they paint MSUM on theirfaces, dress up in crazy ways and sometimes they even sing. Its hard to not notice them!Any locker room rituals?

There are some players who have their rituals, but Im not reallyinto that. We play music (laughing) our little system in the

locker room gets pretty loud sometimes. How is your season going?

Weve been focusing a lot on our defense and getting ourteam into the same frame of mind. Seniors make up a majorityof the team and weve come a long way over the past couple

    years.

NDSU FOOTBALLThis year is the first time the Bisonreached the Division I Football Cham-

pionship. The Fargodome played aprominent role in their success by host-

ing three playoff games. The events

brought a lot of extra pride and profitto the Fargodome.

    IN 2006 THE FARGODOME

sold 25,504 hotdogs, jumbodogs,Polish sausages and brats - enoughto stretch from West Acres to theFlying J Plaza!

    JANUARY2012 FMSPOTLIGHT 54

    According to general

manager, Rob Sobolik, with as many differentevents that come throughthe Fargodome (roughly105 per year) it can bequite a task to set up

shows. As an example ofthe type of work that goesinto switchovers, on Janu-ary 13th Monty PythonsSPAMALOT is performingat the Fargodome and the

    following day Miranda

Lambert is coming to do a

show. This sort of changeoverrequires a massive team totake down the set of SPA-MALOT and switch it overfor the Lambert concert.

After SPAMALOT a teamof roughly 40-50 peoplewill work to clean andtake down the set thenovernight will begin setup for the concert. Once

    Lamberts crew arrives in

    THE CHARITY

the morning they will setup the stage, lights and

speakers. Finally, after lessthan 24 hours of work eve-rything will be in place, the lights will go downand the crowd will beginto roar.

    Fargodome also caters to

charities and hosts walksand events when possible.Fill the Dome is one ofthe largest charity eventsthat occurs each year. Lastyear the event raised over80 tons of food - close to443,093 meals.

Another way for charitiesto raise money is to vol-unteer to work concessionstands during concerts andfootball games. Whennon-profit organizations

volunteer to work conces-sion stands a fraction of

the sales go to that organi-

zation. Last year $98,000was paid out to non-profitorganizations with payoutsranging from $150 to$19,000 per charity.
