Fluor Protector S Fluor Protector S is a fluoride-containing protective varnish for treatment of dentinal hypersensitivity, exposed cervicals and sensitivity after tooth whitening. This innovative varnish has a high fluoride uptake on enamel (see graphic), fast and effective application, and high patient acceptance.

Fluor Protector S is safe and effective for all ages because of the lower amount of applied fluoride due to the thinner coating and lower initial fluoride concentration. In addition, Fluor Protector S has a higher fluoride uptake. Deposited fluoride can be released over time providing sustained protection. Generally, Fluor Protector S is applied at six-month intervals. Shorter intervals may be indicated.

Fluor Protector S contains approximately 7,700ppm fluoride at application, considerably less than other fluoride varnishes. After setting on the tooth surface the concentration increases to approximately 29,000ppm. The innovative homogeneous fluoride source enables immediate availability of fluoride and significantly higher fluoride uptake than competitors during the first hour after application.

Without Fluor Protector SIn an acidic oral environment Calcium (Ca), Phosphate (PO) and Hydroxyl (OH) ions are dissolved from the enamel and consequently weaken the tooth structure leaving

them open to acid attacks.

With Fluor Protector SAfter Fluor Protector S has been applied, the saliva activates the calcium and fluoride ions to combine and form a protective calcium fluoride coating that will remineralize and strengthen the enamel. The teeth are no longer under direct attack by acids and receive long

term protection.

A low-viscosity fluoride varnish such as Fluor Protector S spreads easily and penetrates into porous surfaces.

A high-viscosity fluoride varnish sits on the surface of the tooth. Absorption is poor.

Fluor Protector S hardens to a thin transparent layer that is only visible close up. It feels smooth and virtually non-existent so patients leave the dental office with clean and great looking teeth.

Competitive (sodium fluoride) varnishes tend to appear yellow on teeth and feel sticky. With these type of varnishes, patients often try to immediately lick or wipe the varnish off their teeth because it feels and looks unpleasant.

Most fluoride varnishes are sodium fluoride and “stacked” systems. These inhomogeneous fluoride varnishes must be stirred or shaken before use which may result in uneven distribution of fluoride concentration and compromised adhesion to the teeth.

Fast and Effective ApplicationFluor Protector S is the only fluoride varnish composed of ammonium fluoride, which is an innovative and completely homogenous formulation. Therefore, it evenly and effectively distributes fluoride. Application is fast and easy because it does not need to be mixed or stirred.
