GOALS
Improve effectiveness of Florida government records management
Give FRMA members the ability to better assess the effectiveness of its training program
Raise awareness of the importance of records management in the local/state government
Increase the level of professionalism of those managing Florida records.
Give FRMA and Florida records professionals a set of benchmarks to gauge their professional development

Certification Requirements
Completion of 36 hours of FRMA approved training within three years.
Members must maintain continuous FRMA Membership (You must be a
member when you attend sessions.)
One session of each of these courses is required for initial certification: Basic
Records Management (4 hours), Advanced Records Management (4 hours),
Disaster Planning and Recovery (2 hours), and * any selected mandatory
courses the FRMA Board may add to the curriculum. Members may attend
these classes as often as desired; however, Disaster Planning and Recovery will
be credited toward initial certification only once in the two-year period.
The hours count toward the overall 36-hour requirement.

Recertification Requirements
Completion of 18 hours of FRMA approved training within two years of the
initial certification.
Members must maintain continuous FRMA membership (You must be a
member when you attend sessions.)
Attend Advanced Records Management (4 hours) , Disaster Planning and
Recovery (2 hours), Legislative Update on Public Records Laws and * any
selected mandatory courses the FRMA Board may add to the curriculum
every two years for recertification. Members may attend these classes as often
as desired; however, Disaster Planning and Recovery will be credited toward
recertification only once in the two-year period.

Decertification Request To request a 6-month period to complete recertification hours
and reestablish your FCRM designation, the Recertification
Application must be submitted to the FRMA Director of
Education along with Maintenance Fee of $40.00, (within 90
days after decertification (missed recertification deadline)
If recertification hours are not completed within the approved 6-
month period, all earned credit hours will be rescinded, and the
applicant will need to once again complete all 36 hours required
for the initial FCRM Certification
Recertifying – You must contact the Director of Education in
writing that you will be recertifying within three month of
decertification. If you fail to recertify your FCRM certification
credentials will be decertified.

Potential costs for FCRM Certification / Attending
FRMA 2016 Conference
2016: $770-$860 (membership and conference/hotel fees)
Individual Membership (1 year- January- December): $85-$130
· These fees depend upon when you join. The earlier, the more discounted the
membership fee.
· Currently the fees right now are $130 for an individual membership through
December 2016.
Conference Fees: To earn credits, you must attend the annual conference. You
may also earn credits through approved outside education.
· $255 full conference fee with the potential to earn 21.5 credit hours towards
certification and recertification.
· The FCRM Certification can take up to 3 years to complete. Membership
status must remain current during certification and recertification.
· $128-$158/night at the conference location- The Shores Resort - depending
on what type of room you book.

· Membership increases to $90-$135
· Conference fee increases to $265
· Hotel room rates- $135 or $155 depending on the
