Freight Mobility and Trade Plan Policy Element (2013)

The goal of the Florida Freight Network is to develop a freight-oriented

system where the infrastructure promotes the efficient movement of goods

through the entire supply chain

A project will be considered a freight project in Florida if it is on the Florida

Freight Network and satisfies one of the three components below.

• Developed www.FreightMovesFlorida.com – A partner supported comprehensive portal for

freight mobility and trade County Freight and Logistics Overviews

• Participation in TEAM Florida trade missions

• Collaborated with Workforce Florida to develop a trade and logistics workforce – WFI created new Quick Response Training (QRT) grants

– FDOT created the Trade and Logistics Academy

• Metropolitan Planning Organization Advisory Council (MPOAC) created freight committee

FDOT Transearch Data Acquisition

FDOT Investing “Super” Transearch Data that combines Transearch data as well as data that is more specific to FDOT.

Transearch data will address key freight and transportation issues at the state, regional and local levels.

Transearch data at County level development is now completed

Transearch data at Transportation Analysis Zones (TAZ) level is currently under development and should be available by end of March 2014

Data (County, TAZ) and Project documentation is currently under review

Upcoming: Freight Data Summit: Late 2014, Early 2015

Upcoming: District Freight Coordinators

Primary contact for District in coordinating matters for freight activity and act as a resource for freight issues with other governmental organizations and the private sector.

Assists in collaborating on a statewide multimodal freight

mobility program – Including Highway planning, seaports, spaceports and rail.

Assists in facilitating public-private, state-local and state-federal freight transportation investment decisions.
