AIFD and the staff at Design358. Hitomi and Design358 are

floral construction and design. Hitomi is an internationally

renowned floral artist who has guest-designed throughout

North America, England, Japan, Mexico, Taiwan, Hong Kong

& Bermuda. She brings her well-travelled knowledge of the

latest trends from around the world to offer this forecast

of event florals for 2010.

H IdefOh yea, its hot. Hi Def, high contrast, graphic sophistication

with retro-trend influence to redefine what’s ‘hot’. Clean

black and white, sleek architectural lines, accented with

repetition of spiral motifs featuring raspberry, purple and

bubblegum pink. The surface scape should reflect the play of

textural opposites; patent leather, silk, sheer fabric, metal

plastic, glass, etc. Floral emphasis should also rely on tension

of surface and a mix of flower types.

DESIGN MASTER COLORS CODES

The warmth of a tropical sunset is reflected in this leisurely,

vacation-like, lifestyle mood. The brighter and deeper color

palette contains amber, bright orange, red, burgundy, wine

and brown to emanate the warm glow on the party table.

Tropical flowers in a textural mix play up the richness of the

palette and the use of spray orchids and wispy greens add a

soft decorative Polynesian flair. Containers and accessories

are a mix of glass, ceramic accented with surface foliage and

the woven textures of plant material.

WAVESWhere the Esmeraldas spills into the Pacific waves stir

together the waters and sediments of the river with the great

ocean. The color palette focuses on the blues of the mixing

waters, transparent tropical aqua to the deepest blue of the

depths of the Pacific. The waves of blues are mixed with

lime algae green and the white of frothing waves for a

refreshing clean color combination to lift the human spirit.

This theme demands glass; clear blue, green and white,

with a variety of blues flowers accented with whites and

shades of green.
