FLiDAR - Neart na Gaoithe (NNG) Validation Campaign:
RESULTS
FLiDAR Technology Overview
2
FLiDAR technology Overview
3
• WindCube on gimbal system
• Motion of LiDAR decoupled
from buoy motion
Data quality independent from
buoy movement
Possible to validate
independent from sea state
Buoy structure no influence
on measurements
V0.9 Buoy
Replaced with
V1.0 Buoy
Unchanged

Unchanged LiDAR
& Software version
FLiDAR technology Overview
Design Improvements from V0.9 to V1.0
4
• Buoy structure changed to a Mobilis platform:
• Significant weight reduction (~ 6 Ton)
• Improved handling during O&M, symmetrical hull
• 4 independent floating compartments
• Faster/cheaper multi-cat crane deployment (<10 ton)
• Uses two point mooring:
• Adds redundancy in case of failure
• Keeps the buoy aligned on a N-S axis = more
efficient use of PV panels, less yaw compensation
• Switch to Li-Ion batteries:
• Increased capacity by 70%
• No changes to core measurement system (LiDAR,
software algorithm & gimbal mechanical compensation)

V1.0
MRP-NNG campaign & FLiDAR technology Overview
Design Improvements V1.1
5
• Symmetrical design
• Upgraded energy system
• Increased PV production by 70%
• Added 1 extra WTG
• Possible to install Fuel Cell
• Increased redundancy and reliability
on sensor and PC loggers
• Upgraded satellite and GPRS
systems
