Skimming- Gain an overview or a general idea of the text

How to Skim You want to get an overall idea about the

contents of the article. Practice reading quickly to get a main idea. Focus on title, headings and subheadings as

you slowly turn the pages. Think about the focus of the article as you

skim over highlighted text, charts, images and captions.

Read the first and last lines of paragraphs; focus on introduction and conclusion of the text.
