Project DetailsThe Flatlick Branch – Phase I Stream Restoration project was substantially completed on December 8, 2016. The project involved the restoration of over 1,850 LF of the Flatlick Branch stream and associated tributaries in the Cub Run Watershed, and retrofitting an existing stormwater management basin into a Level II constructed wetland.
Project Overview:• Provide stream improvements to this stream as well as two connecting tributaries• Upgrade an existing stormwater detention pond from a dry pond to a Level II constructed wetland • Remove and replace a failed fair weather stream crossing identified on the countywide trail plan • Replace a section of 24-inch diameter sanitary sewer main• Through a partnership with the Fairfax County Park Authority, the trail system within the stream valley park was enhanced to
an asphalt trail• Invasive species treatment for the site and installing 11,000 native plants

Benefits: • Pollutant Removal Credit provided towards meeting the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL).
• Phosphorus removal – 140 lbs / year• Nitrogen removal – 1,140 lbs / year • Suspended solids – 34 tons/year
