The pressure set-point is infinitely ad- justable, but a low set-point is com- mon for most antisiphon applica- tions. Once the set pressure is reached the valve begins to open. Pressure Island introduces a state- of-the-art pretreatment system for powder and surface coating. The 6-ft x 12-ft system cleans sub- strates, applies phosphate, and rinses in an easy-to-use two-stage system. The cleaning process uti- lizes water heated to 160°F and pressurized up to 1,000 psi. Fluids are cleaned and recycled in the closed-loop self-contained unit with no discharge to the sewer drain. “Our Finishing Equipment vapor deplreaser was a maior factor in our
re&iving the EPA’s hammer Award.” Michael I? McMonagle, President
Superior Plating, Inc. Minneapolis, MN
Consistent high quality work with a broad choice of metal finishes has made Superior Plating, Inc. one of the largest job shop metal finishers in the country.
Superior is also a leader in environmental control and employee safety, going beyond compliance to reduce the exposure of employees and community to hazardous materials.
The company’s new Finishing Equipment solvent degreaser plays a key role in its commitment to reduce emissions to the environment, eliminate operator’s exposure to solvent vapors, and at the same time, increase the production rate.
How successful is Superior’s program. J The company received the EPA s coveted “Hammer Award,” signed by Vice President Al Gore.
According to Superior’s President McMonagle, “After trying several other cleaning alternatives, we
concluded we must stay with solvent degreasing if
we wished to maintain our high standards and
customer satisfaction. From both the environmental
and production viewpoint, the Finishing Equipment
degreasing system is among the best equipment
purchases we’ve made in nearly 80 years in business.”

System allows applicators to apply PFS high-performance thermoplas- tic powder coatings in the shop or in the field. Powdered PFS thermo- plastic powder coatings are melted while passing through a com- pressed air/propane-fueled flame and are deposited on the substrate. No cure time or drying time is nec- essary. Coated objects may be put into service as soon as the coating has cooled. Two basic models are
available-the Powder Pistol for small jobs and the Powder Master, a bigger unit designed with large, commercial jobs in mind. Both models may be upgraded at any time to increase coating speed and flexibility. Circle 416 on the reader service card
