4 Diagram 4.1 shows a coil dimmer to control the brightness of lamps. Diagram 4.2 shows the
internal structure of the coil dimmer and the lamp circuit connected to it. The control knob of the
dimmer can be turned to change the position of brush which makes contact with the coil. It is
observed that the lamp becomes brighter when the control knob is turned clockwise to increase
number of turn connected to the lamp.
