Pastor: Sing praises to the Lord, for God has done gloriously;
People: let us sing God’s praises throughout all the earth. Pastor: Shout aloud and sing for joy, People: from the highest peaks, to the deepest caverns. Pastor: Shout aloud and sing for joy, People: from the tiniest creatures, to the greatest herds. Pastor: Shout aloud and sing for joy, People: in the midst of our joys and our sorrows. Pastor: Shout aloud and sing for joy, People: as we come to worship the God of all creation! OPENING PRAYER
God, who labored creation into being, we give thanks for this day and the privilege to work in your world. Grant us the strength to labor for what is right, just, and fair. Grant us the wisdom to speak out for those who are enslaved,
oppressed, and exploited. Grant us the ability to break the chains of injustice and hear the
voices of people long silenced. We pray this day for the privilege to work in your world; may we make it better. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

POSTLUDE Prelude and Fugue No. 23 in B Major J.S. Bach
Questions for Reflection: In a world that values busyness above all else, how do we, in a healthy and faithful way, hold Paul’s demand to work well with the command for Sabbath? “Brothers and sisters, do not be weary in doing what is right” (2 Thess. 3:13). Even Paul realizes that it can become tedious to work for justice. What are ways that we might stay energized in a seemingly impossible task? Jesus’ words in Luke are particularly challenging; he assures his disciples and believers that they will be persecuted, handed over, betrayed, and hated (Luke 21:12–19). Where is there good news in a text filled with such scary assurances?

Love...Learn...Lead…
Loving God, others, and ourselves
Learning to be His disciples
Leading others to Christ
Stewardship Moment A steward sees his offering as an act of love to God for his blessing. Giving
becomes an act of worship, a faith stance, a spiritual way of life, because the
motivation for the giving is a spiritual one giving back to God a portion of
the treasure He has given to us.
Christmas cards for our Homebound members ~ Please stop at the tables in the Narthex and/or hallway outside Becker Hall and sign a couple of the cards (every Sunday!) which will be delivered to our homebound members in December.
