AN HONOR TO BE
ACCUSED
In Acts 5:28, Peter
and the other apostles
stand accused before the
Jewish high council, the
Sanhedrin, the same
body who found Jesus
deserving of death and
turned Him over to Pi-
late to be crucified. The
high priest questioned
them and then made this
accusation, "We gave
you strict orders not to
teach in this name, yet
here you have filled Je-
rusalem with your teach-
ing and you are deter-
mined to bring this
man's blood on us."
What an honorable accu-
sation! The high priest is
acknowledging that the
name of Jesus is spread-
ing everywhere and the
apostles are responsible.
Note especially this
phrase, "You have filled
Jerusalem with your
teaching."
Oh, that we could be
accused by opponents of
Jesus of having filled
Stanton County with the
teaching of Jesus! Oh
that we were so ener-
getic, so vigorous, so ef-
fective, that it would be
such an established fact
that people would have
to acknowledge the
spread and influence of
our faithful teaching of
Jesus Christ!
What would this look
like? Every man,
woman, and child would
adequately know the
Christian message so
they could act on it.

Each would comprehend the unique
nature of Jesus Christ--God who
became man, who made the su-
preme sacrifice of giving His life
for our lives so we could be liber-
ated from the destructive force of
sin, and who calls us to follow Him
by living in faith, power, and obe-
dience. With everyone compre-
hending these truths about Jesus,
many of these would commit them-
selves absolutely to following Him.
The saturation of the entire county
with the teaching of Jesus would
mean many changed lives and a
ground swell of changes in the val-
ues, motives, and actions of the
people of the county. The county
itself would be changed such would
be the influence of this teaching.
In Jerusalem, in the first year
after Jesus' resurrection, the high
priest and the Sanhedrin were wor-
ried. They felt they were losing
control. They thought the temple,
the synagogues, their very way of
life was threatened. But the only
thing that was threatened was their
power. The changes resulting from
the teaching of the apostles were
absolutely beneficial to all who re-
ceived this truth. Life was getting
better because of Jesus Christ.
Imagine America today if every
city, every county, every state, the
entire nation were saturated with
the teaching of Jesus Christ. What
would be the impact on home life?
What would be the fabric of atti-
tudes within a community and
across the nation? What would be
the increase of motivation toward
excellence in the classroom and the
work place?
For decades the United Meth-
odist Church has boasted there are
more Methodist churches than U.S.
Post Offices. But having an outpost
in every zip code is not the same as
saturation. Saturation is neighbor
talking to neighbor. It is convinced,
committed Christians living a daily
lifestyle of an integrated witness to
Jesus Christ in their lives. I have
been re-reading Paul E. Little's
book, How To Give Away Your
Faith. Paul Little is deceased, and
he wrote the book in the early
1970's, but his wife has revised it
for today and re-published it. Paul
Little teaches how we can easily,
naturally, and sensitively share our
faith with others. In his method we
learn to look for a person's readi-
ness to examine who Jesus is, and
we learn to share Christ by listen-
ing to the other person. Sharing this
way is relational and genuine, Sen-
sitive to the Holy Spirit, waiting for
God to work in our friends life.
The apostles were successful,
because they were filled with the
Holy Spirit, and because they were
obedient. Peter answered the high
priest's accusation by saying, "We
must obey God rather than any hu-
man authority." In their case obedi-
ence literally meant putting their
lives on the line and defying the
order to cease and desist from
teaching about Jesus.
We should be so bold in the
Holy Spirit! We should seek to
saturate Johnson and Stanton
County with the teaching of Jesus,
to see people who do not know
Him to come to know Him and fol-
low Him, to see every believer
grow to maturity in Jesus Christ. I
have talked with most of the pas-
tors of the other churches in the
county and we agree this is most
desirable and something no one
church can do by itself. Will you
pray that we succeed in "filling
Johnson City and Stanton County
with the teaching of Jesus Christ"?

Preschool has kicked off our year with a great start!! We have 12
students in the morning class and 12 students in the afternoon class! We
will be very busy! So far we have practiced cutting, pasting, painting, col-
oring, writing our names, sorting, dances to many songs, and learned our
centers! Most importantly, we are getting to know our new friends!
This year we were able to add a new room; it’s called our Tech
Room!! We have a listening center, computers, and a Lego table! If you
haven’t seen it, please feel free to come down by us!
The first two weeks is a getting to know us time: learning the rou-
tine, introduction of letters, numbers, shapes, & colors, and our new skills
such as cutting & gluing. We will then start our study of the alphabet indi-
vidually.
