To Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available in our Welcome Center or on our website, firstpresaugusta.org.Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in Pre-K through fourth grade during the morning services. A leader will escort children to their classrooms during the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Parents of children in Pre-K through second grade are asked to pick up their children following Sunday School or the 11 a.m. worship service.Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We also provide a Mother/Infant Room equipped with audio located beside Nursery 1. Ushers are available to direct you.Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or if you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the attendance pad folder to contact a pastor. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder will be standing next to the pastor following the service.

Additional Seating Additional seating for morning and evening worship services is available each week in St. Andrew’s Hall.

WelcomeWe are very glad to have you worshiping our gracious God with us today.

As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

The Advent Wreath CelebrationEach Sunday during the Advent season we light a candle in our morning services and read the corresponding Scripture so that we may focus our attention on Jesus and glorify him. We use three purple candles representing Hope, Love and Peace, and a pink candle representing the Joy that is ours because of Christ’s coming into the world and into our hearts and lives. The white candle in the center of the wreath is lit on Christmas Day and represents the birth of Jesus. This tradition, dating back to A.D. 600, reminds us that the center of the Church and the center of our Christmas celebration is Christ Jesus.

Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God

from the wedding of Megan Clark and Wyatt Mobley.

†The Call to Worship .................................................................................... Psalm 100Shout for joy to the Lord all the earth.Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his;We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise;give thanks to him and praise his name.

For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;his faithfulness continues through all generations.

The Lord be with you.And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

Of the Father’s love begotten ere the worlds began to be,He is Alpha and Omega, he the Source, the Ending, he,Of the things that are, that have been, and that future years shall see, Evermore and evermore!

Christ, to thee, with God the Father, and O Holy Ghost, to thee,Hymn, and chant, and high thanksgiving, and unwearied praises be,Honor, glory, and dominion, and eternal victory, Evermore and evermore!

The Corporate Confession of Sin

The Personal Confession of Sin (Please kneel if able to do so)

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace .................................................... 1 Peter 2:24-25He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws. We have left undone those things we ought to have done; and we have done those things we ought not to have done; and there is no health in us. O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare those, O God, who confess their faults. Restore those who are penitent, according to your promises declared to us in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life—to the glory of your holy name. Amen. Based on The Book of Common Worship, second order

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Offertory—Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming ...................................Es Ist Ein Ros

The Offering* (Please take a moment to sign the attendance register.)

Lo, how a rose e’er blooming from tender stem has sprung,Of Jesse’s lineage coming, as men of old have sung.It came, a flow’ret bright, amid the cold of winter,When half-spent was the night.

Isaiah ‘twas foretold it, the rose I have in mind; With Mary we behold it, the virgin mother kind.To show God’s love aright she bore to men a Savior,When half-spent was the night.

O Savior, Child of Mary, who felt our human woe;O Savior, King of Glory, who dost our weakness know,Bring us at length, we pray, to the bright courts of heavenAnd to the endless day.

*Online giving is available at firstpresaugusta.org and at the giving kiosk
