Hymns

My God, how wonderful you are, your majesty how bright, how beautiful your mercy seat, in depths of burning light!

Creator from eternal years, O everlasting Lord, by holy angels day and night unceasingly adored!

How wonderful, how beautiful, the sight of you must be, your endless wisdom, boundless power, and awesome purity!

O how I fear you , living God, with deepest, tenderest fears, and worship you with trembling hope and penitential tears!

But may I love you too, O Lord, though you are all divine for you have stooped to ask of me this feeble love of mine

No earthly father loves like thee, no mother, e'er so mild, bears and forbears as thou hast done with me, thy sinful child.

Father of Jesus, love's reward, great King upon your throne What joy to see you as you are And know as I am known

For the fruits of his creationthanks be to God;

Page 16: First Reading Jeremiah 28.5-9  · Web viewBlessed are you, Sovereign God, creator of all,to you be glory and praise for ever. You founded the earth in the beginningand the heavens

for his gifts to every nationthanks be to God; for the ploughing, sowing, reaping, silent growth while we are sleeping, future needs in earth’s safe keeping, thanks be to God.   In the just reward of labour,God’s will is done;in the help we give our neighbour,God’s will is done;in our worldwide task of caringfor the hungry and despairing,in the harvests we are sharing,God’s will is done.   For the harvests of the Spirit, thanks be to God;for the good we all inherit, thanks be to God;for the wonders that astound us,for the truths that still confound us,most of all, that love has found us,thanks be to God.

He who would valiant be 'gainst all disasterLet him in constancy follow the MasterThere's no discouragement shall make him once relentHis first avowed intent to be a pilgrim

Who so beset him round with dismal storiesDo but themselves confound - his strength the more isNo foes shall stay his might; though he with giants fightHe will make good his right to be a pilgrim

Since, Lord, Thou dost defend us with Thy SpiritWe know we at the end, shall life inheritThen fancies flee away! I'll fear not what men sayI'll labour night and day to be a pilgrim

I come with joy, a child of God,forgiven, loved and free, the life of Jesus to recall,in love laid down for me.

I come with Christians far and nearto find, as all are fed,the new community of lovein Christ's communion bread.

As Christ breaks bread, and bids us share, each proud division ends. The love that made us, makes us one,and strangers now are friends.

The Spirit of the risen Christ, unseen, but ever near,is in such friendship better known, alive among us here.

Together met, together boundby all that God has done,we'll go with joy, to give the world

Page 20: First Reading Jeremiah 28.5-9  · Web viewBlessed are you, Sovereign God, creator of all,to you be glory and praise for ever. You founded the earth in the beginningand the heavens

the love that makes us one.

Take up thy cross, the Saviour said,If thou wouldst My disciple be;Deny thyself, the world forsake,And humbly follow after Me.

Take up thy cross, let not its weightFill thy weak spirit with alarm; His strength shall bear thy spirit up,And brace thy heart and nerve thine arm.

Take up thy cross, nor heed the shame,Nor let thy foolish pride rebel;Thy Lord for thee the cross endured,to save thy soul from death and hell.

Take up thy cross then in His strength,And calmly sin’s wild deluge brave,’Twill guide thee to a better home,It points to glory o’er the grave.

Take up thy cross and follow Christ,And calmly every danger brave‘twill guide thee to a better home And lead to vic’try o’er the grave

Take up thy cross, and follow Christ Nor think till death to lay it down For only those who bear the crossMay hope to wear the glorious crown

To Thee, great Lord, the One in Three,All praise forevermore ascend:

Hymns

O for a heart to praise my God, a heart from sin set free, a heart that’s sprinkled with blood so freely shed for me.

A heart resigned, submissive, meek, my great Redeemer's throne, where only Christ is heard to speak, where Jesus reigns alone.

A humble, lowly, contrite heart, believing, true, and clean, which neither life nor death can part from Christ who dwells within.

A heart in every thought renewed

and full of love divine, perfect and right and pure and good, a copy, Lord, of thine.

Thy nature, gracious Lord, impart; come quickly from above; write thy new name upon my heart, thy new, best name of Love.

From heaven You came,Helpless Babe,Entered our world, Your glory veiled; Not to be served but to serve,And give Your life that we might live.

This is our God, the Servant King,He calls us now to follow Him,To bring our lives, as a daily offeringOf worship to the Servant King.

There in the garden of tears,My heavy load, He chose to bear; His heart with sorrow was torn,'Yet not My will but Yours' He said.

This is our God…

Come see His hands and His feet,The scars that speak, of sacrifice,Hands that flung stars into spaceTwo cruel nails surrendered.

This is our God…

So let us learn how to serve,And in our lives, enthrone Him;Each other's needs to preferFor it is Christ we're serving.

This is our God..

O Thou who camest from above, the pure celestial fire to impart kindle a flame of sacred love upon the mean altar of my heart.

There let it for thy glory burn with inextinguishable blaze, and trembling to its source return, in humble prayer and fervent praise.

Jesus, confirm my heart's desire to work and speak and think for thee; still let me guard the holy fire, and still stir up thy gift in me. Ready for all thy perfect will, my acts of faith and love repeat, till death thy endless mercies seal, and make the sacrifice complete.
