*Affirmation of Faith – The Apostles’ Creed – (Traditional version) (read in unison) (Ushers gather in the narthex at this time.)

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,

And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy

Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was

crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose

again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand

of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick

and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of

saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life

everlasting. Amen.

Thoughts on Giving: “…do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” JOHN 14:27 Our limited human understanding cannot begin to understand the immense power of God. Instead of trusting in God, we think we can control every outcome. Do you want to make God laugh? Tell God your plans. The next time worry, anxiety or fear creeps in, thank God for all God has given you and trust God has a better plan for you.

Stewardship Prayer: That the next time worry, anxiety or fear enters our life, our first thought is to thank God for all God has given us.

First Presbyterian Church

“I will strive to enter that intimate space of Christ’s radical love with you.”

Welcome to this sacred time of praising and praying together; of singing, speaking and listening together; of being strengthened together in faith, for service. Amen.

Dear God, help us to remember that we belong to you. Touch us, heal us, bless us. Walk with us daily that we may have the courage and faith to meet all life’s challenges. Amen.

We invite everyone to take a moment during the offertory to sign the Church Attendance Register found in each pew. A special welcome is extended to all who are visiting with us this morning. We hope that your worship experience will be meaningful and enjoyable. If you are interested in learning more about First Presbyterian Church or becoming a member of this congregation, please speak with Pastor Sarah, the Church Office or any Elder.

The TRUSTEES responsible for counting today are Bruce Burr and Jim Merwin. The Trustees responsible for counting on May 8 are Vicki Noble and Tom Leo.

The CHILD CARE ROOM will be available to parents today during the worship service. Volunteers are needed. There is a list of who will be providing care each week posted on the Nursery door. Child care is usually provided from after the children's sermon until the end of worship most Sundays.

Children’s worship bags are available in the hospitality room on the shelves. Children are welcome to select a bag with items of their choosing to use during worship. Children’s Bulletins are also available. The children's Sunday School at First Presbyterian is now an all ages class where students will use their imagination through LEGO© creations to experience their faith and the biblical story. Join us next week and see God at work, brick by brick. Sunday School starts at 9:30 am each Sunday during the school year. If you are interested in helping to lead the class, contact the Christian Ed Committee for more information.

Pastor Sarah will be out of the office May 5-12. Please call the church office or any Elder if you need assistance.

The Upper Room Devotionals are available on the information racks in the narthex and outside the church office. If you wish to make a contribution to defray the cost, there is a wooden box in the Narthex.

Great Job Everyone!! The First Presbyterian Church family has done an amazing job on the Church World Service Mission School Bag and Hygiene Kit project. As of today, 41 completed school kits and 36 complete Hygiene Kits have been delivered to the drop off point for collection!! A huge "Thank You" to everyone who supplied all the items for the school bags and hygiene kits, supplied school bags and cut and sewed school bags (special thank you especially to Joan Maxwell who made the majority of the bags). We also offer our thanks to the Presbyterian Women of the Presbytery of Susquehanna Valley for providing the processing/shipping costs for these kits. ($2 per kit times 77 kits!) The Church World Service Kits (Hygiene Kits, School Kits, Baby Care Kits, and Emergency Cleanup Buckets are an ongoing project at First Presbyterian Church of Delhi. If you would like to help out, contact Nancy A. in the church office.

NEW MINISITRY STARTING!

The rumor is true! We are making plans to open a Thrift Store at First Pres Church as a

Mission Project for our local community and to help our Church finances. Since this idea

was initially planted two months ago, we are quickly on our way to making it a reality with

Session’s approval on April 6th to move forward.

The Thrift store will be located in the old Youth Group and PW rooms downstairs. The

Trustees have already contacted the Mold Abatement Company for an estimate and are

working on plans and estimates. God willing, we are hopeful that work will be completed

in time for us to have a September opening with anticipated operating hours Fridays and

Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 or 3 PM.

As we continue to plan this new ministry for our church, there will be many opportunities

for your help in completing our goals and when the need arises we will seek you out! If

anyone feels called to work closely with this new Mission Project please contact a

member of the team. The Thrift Store Team is Nancy Thomson (Chair), Betty Bell (Deacon

Liaison), Renee Maxwell (Session liaison) and Patrick Sullivan (Trustee liaison). We will

keep everyone posted on our progress in the weekly Sunday Church Life, the Church

Website, Facebook and the Courier Newsletters.

Now the Fun Part: We are having a Contest to Name the Thrift Store!! Use the

tear off at the bottom to make your suggestion, put in the envelope provided and place

in the collection plate or drop off in the office. The winner will get a Gift Certificate for

the Thrift Store and of course a Special Thank You (Sorry No Cash Prize).
