SBKey shares her word of farewell...for now
Sonna will share her word on the Word this Sunday.
Our friend and “Priscilla” Soniyyah B. Key has accepted her call to serve as the senior minister at Parkway Christian Church in Springfield, IL. Sonna says that her departure from this area is bittersweet. She is moving away from friends and family and three emerging organizations including PACE (Police & Community Engagement), the Arkansas Citizens Climate Lobby (ARCCL), and Bridges, but she is hon-ored to begin the next chapter of her ministry. We are so proud of her, and it looks like Parkway is excit-ed about her arrival.
Party Food Potluck—Sunday, March 15
Our congregation has the exceptional opportunity to wish our beloved Priscilla Soniyyah "Sonna" B. Key farewell as she fulfills God's call to minis-ter to Parkway Christian Church in Springfield, IL. On March 15 we will gather after worship service in Disciples Hall to celebrate and collect a love offering. Please bring your favorite party food dish and let Sonna know how much she means to us. We want to send her off with our love and best wishes as she begins this new life adventure in ministry.
Acts of Kindness
Community Outreach has placed a shamrock tree in the narthex for the month of March. Each shamrock has an act of kindness on the back. The congregation is invited to take a shamrock and fulfill the act printed on the back. Some of the shamrocks simply say: “I am going to...”, and you can decide what your act of kindness will be. Others are specific to kids. Once you fulfill the act, bring the shamrock back to the tree for others to choose. Enjoy spreading kindness!
Beans & Bingo Dinner March 11
Membership Ministry is hosting a bean, cornbread, and gumbo dinner on March 11 at 5:30 pm. Please bring a small gift to add to our collection of prizes for the Bingo winners. We will eat from 5:30 to 6:00 then play bingo until the last prize is won. Please join us for good food and a family fun time.
Called Congregation Meeting This Sunday
There will be a called congregational meeting at the con-clusion of this week's worship service for the purpose of voting on an interim minister that has been called by the search committee. Danny Lynch, Board Chair
Seeing Through the Eyes of the Youngest Among Us
After a recent Sunday service, Elizabeth Vaughn found herself with a flat tire. With quick action by Jimmy Hudlow and David Williamson, the flat tire was removed and replaced with the spare in less than 10 minutes! — all under the supervision of Dan Marshall. The problem was assessed by Cannon Hudlow to be coming from the valve stem. He pointed to it and told Elizabeth, “It’s loose. That’s your problem, right there.” Sure enough, the tire repair shop reported Cannon’s diagnosis to be spot-on! Thanks to all the fellas who came to the rescue. And thank you, Cannon, for sharing your wisdom. You are a great kid!!
