Management commentary

April HighlightsThe First Eagle Amundi International Fund returned -5.88% in April.Consumer Staples was the only contributor to positive performance. Financials, Information Technology, and Communication Services detracted most. The Fund’s Gold exposure remains elevated at 15.5%

Month-End Market Review Equity and fixed income markets posted broad declines in April amid ongoing concerns over persistently high inflation, rising interest rates, Covid-related lockdowns in China and theconflict in Ukraine. Volatility remained elevated during the month and the S&P 500 and MSCI World indexes fell 8.7% and 8.3%, respectively. Equity market leadership continued to favorvalue stocks over growth, both globally and in the US. With the exception of a small positive return from leveraged loans, fixed income assets in general continued to be very weak in Aprilas sovereign yields in a number of developed markets established new multiyear highs. Broad measures of commodity prices pushed still higher during the month, though gold declined inthe face of a strengthening dollar and rising real interest rates.   Month-End FE Amundi Funds’ Review Although absolute returns from the First Eagle Amundi Funds were negative in April, our investment approach—which targets profitable businesses with entrenched positions, solid balancesheets and quality management—helped bolster the portfolios relative to broad equity markets. We have long noted that our value-oriented style performs better in sideways- anddownward-trending markets than in the roaring bull markets that dominated the investment world for much of this century. The ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia adds anothercomplication to markets already processing multi-decade-high inflation levels and central bank tightening. We believe the bottom-up resilience built into our portfolios may help mitigate theimpacts of what is likely to remain a highly uncertain investment environment.   First Eagle Amundi International Fund (FEAIF) Portfolio & Attribution FEAIF returned -5.88% in April (USD, AUC share class). Both equities and gold-related securities detracted from absolute return during the month. In terms of equity market sectors, consumer staples was the only positive contributor to performance; financials, information technology and communication services were the largest detractors. Among individual stocks, the Fund’s top contributors for the month included Danone, Exxon Mobil, Weyerhaeuser, Imperial Oil and Unilever. The largest detractors included Oracle, Comcast, Alphabet, Shimano andBank of New York Mellon. During April, we established a new position in a US-based diabetes-care business and increased our exposure to seven other stocks. We did not eliminate anyequity positions during the month but reduced our holdings in five names.
