NB: The stem for can be got from the the infinitive. This isn't always gonna be the case and that's why it's important that you think about adding your ending to the stem and not the infinitive minus the ending.

But sometimes it gets a bit more complicated, like for (to write).

First of all, is an excellent example of why you should be memorizing stresses in Russian words. While most words with the wrong stress will sound like nonsense to a Russian, and have much different meanings.

The stem for (to write) is - ...

The stem for is -, not - (which is the stem for ,to piss)

Although the stem is quite different, the only difference between the endings for and is the first person singular () and the third person plural (), which are and respectively instead of and (which is not much of a difference at all).
