Singing is a command. Many times throughout

scripture, we are encouraged, even commanded to

sing. Sing to the Lord a new song (Psalm 98:1). …

teach one another with all wisdom through psalms,

hymns, and songs of the Spirit. (Colossians 3: 16)

We are compelled to sing. Now, I know that I may be

more compelled to sing than the average person, but

I bet you can think of a song or hymn right now that

as soon as you hear it you cannot help but sing

along! Or perhaps there is a song that, no matter

how many times you’ve heard or sung it, it moves

you in deep, meaningful ways. I’m sure you can

remember a time when singing a certain song just

felt right. Or maybe you have experienced times in

which words alone were not enough to express your

awe and wonder of our amazing God… It is in these

moments that God’s gift of singing is truly evident. It

is in these moments that we are compelled to sing to

Him, because our words just aren’t enough…

This week, I urge you to thank God for giving you a

voice that can sing His praises …then use that voice

to sing out to Him!

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the

Lord with gladness! Come into His presence with

singing! Psalm 100:1-2

Singing is mentioned throughout scripture. David

sang songs of praise and of pain. Jesus and His

disciples sang hymns together just hours before

His crucifixion. From their prison cells, Paul and Silas

sang out to God. In times of great joy and in times of

great sorrow, God’s people lift up their voices in

song.

In their book, Sing!, songwriters and worship pastors

Keith and Kristyn Getty write: We sing because we are

created to, commanded to, and compelled to.

Whether you are a confident singer or not, God has

created you with a voice to sing His praises. While

Jesus walked on earth, He sang hymns and songs of

praise with his disciples. If we are created in His

image and striving to be more like Him, then we

must sing.

Things are getting AMAZINGLY WILD at our

church. Are you ready for it? I am. Because it is

always exciting and fun to see Vacation Bible

School come to life. The decorations are going

up. Our teachers and workers are getting ready

for the kids to come. Also, it is always a great

time of fun and learning more about God’s love

for us.

The 2019 theme for Vacation Bible School is In

The Wild: Amazing Encounters With Jesus. The

theme verse is John 20:31 – But these are written

so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah,

the Son of God,, and that by believing you may

have life in His name.

Our Vacation Bible School is June 23-26. Please

note the front page of this newsletter to get the

details. Our VBS Director, Karalee Workun has

enlisted a great team of leaders. Let’s do our part

in getting the word out about our Vacation Bible

School.

Take time to pray for the leaders and the students

that will be leading and attending VBS. Take

some VBS flyers and give them out to neighbors

and friends. Invite kids to come and let people

know they are welcome to come.

The children who come to VBS and their families

are our mission field. As we teach God’s word

and share the Gospel, we are working with God

to transform lives for His Kingdom. Let’s do our

part as we join God and His church in this eternal

work.

Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers, all of the

cards, food, visits and text messages when Mom

passed away. The lunch was great - thanks to all of the

ladies who helped. A special thanks to Just Because

and the Shekinah Singers for the beautiful music at her

service. Mom just wanted to go “Home” - Praise the

Dear Church Family,

Thank you for loving John for 16 years. He loved his

church family. The plant is beautiful and it was special

to have many members attend the funeral. To the

ones who prepared the meal and serve it to many

more family members than you usually have, thank

you from the whole family. You went the extra mile.

Thank you, Bro. Charlie. You ministered to us through

John’s sickness and death. There are not words to tell

you what that has meant. The sermon was exactly

what John would have wanted, using the Scriptures he

knew & loved.
