The summer is moving so quickly. Also, my time as your transitional pastor has almost run its course. In fact, this is probably my last letter to write for the First Edition. I have three more Sundays to preach before Dr. Joe Savage comes as our Interim Pastor. How can I sum up 15 years of being your pastor? There is no way except to say it has been awesome. Susan and I aren’t sure of our retirement plans, but we are sure we will remain in Fairhope. First Baptist is not only our church, but it is our family. We will be going to Boston the rst week of August to perform the wedding of Jenika Schmidt, a former member of our Sunday School Class here at FBC. When we are not out of town, we will be in church. If you don’t see us, it is because we are sitting all around the church -- in the balcony plus “pew hopping”. I hope we don’t sit in someone’s pew and upset them. In these last few words, I’m looking forward to baby-dedication and more baptisms. I will nish out the month preaching on the parables that Jesus spoke and still speaks. There is much to be done and I know you will be faithful. Allow God to use you and see the Lord continue His work at First Baptist. This church has a great history, an awesome present and an even more exciting future. Pray for Dr. Savage as he comes. Also, continue to pray for our Pastor Search Committee as they seek God’s leadership in nding our new pastor. God has great things for our church. Don’t miss out. Your Pastor, Jerry Psalm 16:8
