    Objecve of Fire Resistance Tesng

The objecve for these new tests is to enhance structural performance so that uncontrolled building fires result

in burnout without paral or total collapse. Addionally, these fire measurement technologies would also lead

to improvements in ignion resistant materials, surface flammability, fire growth, smoke and toxic gas

producon that will save lives and reduce the high cost of unwanted fires for automove, marine, railways,

    electric, construcon and texles.

SPECTRO is a well-known name in Tesng and Inspecon services provider. During the span of 21 years, more

than 12000 customers round the globe have trusted on Spectro to ensure the quality and safety of their

products. Our Lab is accredited and approved by most presgious Instuons like NABL in various fields, ISO-

9001, ISO-14001, and OHSAS-18001 for carrying out tests as per Naonal and Internaonal standards.

We have setup ground-breaking facilies for a wide range of fire tests for both residenal and commercial

markets. We can assist in assessing the conformity to standards, assist with R&D and provide guidance with

construcon. Our second to none customer service and 360⁰ approach promises you to rely on Spectro to get

    the job done.

  • The Steiner Tunnel Test is a widely used method of

tesng building interior wall and ceiling finishes for their

ability to support and propagate fire, and for their

tendency to emit smoke. The test itself involves an

assembly of the tested material, fabricated into an

otherwise noncombusble horizontal box or tunnel as

the tunnel's roof, in a secon 7.3 meters long and 0.56

    meters wide.

    Special Fire Tesng Facilies

Surface Burning Characteriscs of Building Materials (Steiner Tunnel Test by ASTM E- 84)

    Non Combusbility Test

This test determines whether or not a material contributes to the fire,

subjecng it to a controlled heang and measuring certain parameters such

as the inial temperature, maximum and final, the me required to increase

the temperature, the total me of combuson of the product (EN ISO 1182)

    EN ISO 1182, IMO FTPC Part 1 , ASTM E 2652.

Fire Tests of Building Construcon and Materials (ASTM E 119)

The test exposes the test specimen to a controlled fire to achieve specified temperatures for a specified me period to

evaluate its structural integrity. This test is applicable to assemblies of walls, columns, floors, masonry units and to

composite assemblies of structural materials for buildings, including bearing and other walls and parons, columns,

girders, beams, slabs, and composite slab and to other integral parts of a finished building.

Test of Dry chemical for fighng fire

The dry powder is Generally composed of basic material of eutecc

chlorides, ammonium phosphate, diammonium phosphate, sodium

chloride or a mixture of sodium chloride with ammonium phosphate

with addives to make It water repellant, free flowing and confirming to

various requirements menoned in this standard.

A gas burner is lit at one end of the chamber for duraon of 10 minutes and the progress of the flame front across

the test material is measured by visual observaon, while the smoke emied from the end of the test assembly is

measured as a factor of opcal density. A flame spread index (FSI) and a smoke-developed index(SDI) are

calculated from these results which are used to classify material under class A,B,C.

  • Fire Tests on safes (IS: 550 Part-3)

This standard lays down the methods of test for assessing the fire resistance capacity of the safes. Tests

conducted in accordance with these requirements are intended to demonstrate the performance of equipment

during exposure to fire, but are not intended to determine acceptability for use aer exposure to fire.

The Cone Calorimeter is a widely used tool for fire safety engineering. It

works on the principle of Oxygen Consumpon Calorimetry which states

that ‘Net heat of combuson of any organic material is directly related to

the amount of oxygen required for combuson’. It is used to study the

response of the materials when they are exposed to the controlled

    radiant heang.

It is a small-scale instrument to measure rate of heat release, ignion me

and smoke producon of building product.

We feel proud to share that we are the first in the country to develop this dynamic tool at an approx. cost of 35% of

the imported equipment cost which is considered an achievement under the MAKE IN INDIA.
