Carbon dioxide fire extinguishing systems are usedbecause of the most efficient extinguishing agents

It is situated at the switch room

It removes the oxygen and covers the surroundingatmosphere and literally strangles the fires to death.

    Advantages:

    a) odorless and non-toxic

    b) dry, inert gas, it will not conduct electricityc) cannot damage clothes or equipment nor

    contaminate liquids or food

    WET RISER

  • 8/2/2019 Fire Fighting Note

    40/125

WET RISERIs constantly filled with water and thesupply should be capable ofmaintaining a running pressure of410kPa at the highest landing valve

and give a flow rate of 23litres persecond. The maximum runningpressure permitted with one outletopen should be 510kPa.

    To maintain the required water

pressure it is usually necessary toinstall pumping equipment. Directpumping from the main is notpermitted and a suction tank with aminimum actual volume of water of45.5 m2 must be installed.
