Principal’s Report
Welcome to Week 5! Early this morning, students from Year 3 &
4 boarded the bus bound for Melbourne. Mrs McKenna, Miss
Dring and Mr Vance will be leading them through many exciting
activities at venues such as Werribee Zoo, Melbourne Museum
and Science Works. We expect them home around 6pm on
Wednesday. Updates on the trip can be sourced via our school
facebook page.
Thank you to all the parents who attended the K-6 Parent
Information Night last Wednesday. This was a wonderful
opportunity to gain an insight into the running of Finley Public
School for 2019. If parents and teachers can work together we
can deliver better outcomes for our students. Sessions such as
these provide forums for information to be exchanged and
explained.
A huge thank you to the Finley Community Secondhand Shop for their generous donation. These funds are put
towards lowering the costs of excursions for all students from K-6. In particular this year we will be putting the
Year 5 & 6 funds towards subsidisng the Interative ANZAC show being offered by Finley High School.
School Captains Archie and Faith receiving the donation from Mrs Gwen James, Mrs Joyce Lewis and Mr Peter Larson.

Stage 3 Excursion
Miss Ackers is currently finalising activities for the Stage 3 excursion to Canberra, which will take place from

be confident on our student numbers prior to the cut-off date.
Attendance
Regular attendance at school is essential if students are to maximise their potential. Schools, in partnership with parents, are responsible for promoting the regular attendance of students. While parents are legally responsible for the regular attendance of their children, school staff, as a part of their duty of care, monitor part or whole day absences. If your child is sick, please send a note in to explain this absence within seven days of returning to school. Notes are required to explain why the child was absent as well as the date or dates this occurred. The note must also be signed by a parent or guardian. Thank you for your help with this matter.
Have a great week.

Library News A new initiative in the Library is to develop a love of reading by encouraging students to write book reviews for their fellow students.
Thanks to our first book reviewers Arabelle T and Bethany L.
We hope these are the first of many reviews and that it will encourage other students to read the recommended books.

Book reviews
The Naughtiest Girl in the School – review by Bethany Loughridge
It is about a young girl called Elizabeth Allen who doesn’t want to go to
school. Her parents send her to a boarding school but she tried to be really
naughty so she could go back home.
Elizabeth ends up liking her school and doesn’t want to go back home.
I would recommend this book for readers aged 8-12, who like books with lots
of excitement. The Naughtiest girl in the school is only one of a series.
Whatever After - Fairest of them All - review by Arabelle Taylor.
If you read this book you are definitely going to find it interesting. The book
feels like a giant roller coaster because of everything that’s happening in the
story. The characters visit many different fairytales like Cinderella, Aladdin
and Snow White.
I highly recommend this book for all of students in Year 3 to 6.
