However as soon as she walks through the HQ doors here at Cliché it’s like she never left – flustered from the wind outside and rushing to make it on time as she throws herself on the sofa. “Them stairs will kill me one day, I promise you!” After a cup of tea and as she always states in this room, “this chair makes me feel like I’m visiting the counsellor”, she’s ready to get talking. So what really happened all that time ago for Lilianna to leave? “I left the industry because there wasn’t much room for me anymore. I was tired of making track after track that I didn’t even like myself and being on tour after tour was getting boring solo. Harry (newly wed husband) was away on tour with his band as well and we were both getting down so I stepped back for a while.” As we know in this time shes got engaged, married, and moved house into an estate in LA. It’s been 2 years since the lovely face of Birmingham born and bred Lilianna has been on our charts, but last week she announced she was returning to her well-deserved musical throne, as she starts a new album and tour. However as soon as she walks through the HQ doors here at Cliché it’s like she never left – flustered from the wind outside and rushing to make it on time as she throws herself on the sofa. “Them stairs will kill me one day, I promise you!”After a cup of tea and as she always states in this room, “this chair makes me feel like I’m visiting the counsellor”, she’s ready to get talking. So what really happened all that time ago for Lilianna to leave?“I left the industry because there wasn’t much room for me anymore. She’s even vaguely hinting at a surprise for her fans in the next few months. What else have you been up to whilst you were gone?“Writing, recording, playing guitar…. Writing and more recording. Songs that I want to make this time, not that I have to make because the label told me to! I’m hoping I’ll be able to mix some of the up and put them into my new album in a few months.”Any insight for us into your next album?“Haha if you’re lucky! Well I’m releasing a single next week so that’ll give you an idea of what it’ll be like. In some ways I’m stripping everything down to my old music, my indie roots…But then at the same time some of its full force like every other album. It’s a bit of a mish mash but that’s my personality so I think it will work.”True to her ‘mish-mash’ nature, Lilianna is not sitting on the sofa the wrong way round, as she tries to drink her tea with a straw upside down. How come you’ve changed your style of music then?

The Label. Ohh the label. It was like I was being turned into a little minion of theirs and they were trying to morph me into something else! She says this as me and my co-writer watch her imitating a zombie, clone type image (we dont quite know ourselves!Honestly I was scared for my own life! It just wasn’t me and every time I walked into that studio id huff and puff and we’d always end up in an argument. That’s probably why I’m sitting in a counsellors chair now haha! No but seriously, we just didn’t get on. That was partly why I left, but I’ve got a new label now and we’ve agreed that it’s my music all the way.I feel sorry for her new label now. After half an hour in a room with Lilianna I’d be lost dealing with her crazy antics for any longer. How have things been left with the old label now then?“We’re fine things are good with us. I mean after all they’re the reason I’m where I am now and they’re the reason why I met Harry so without them I’d have a completely different life. We’re all still good friends, just no longer business partners.”Lilianna continues to surprise us still, as she pulls her stitch case iPhone out of a black spiky handbag, and puts on some music we don’t recognise. Can we ask what this is,Lilianna?“Oh It’s a colab I’m working on with someone. Top secret.”Any clues who with? When, what?“Hmm.... okay! I and Florence ATM are making a colab for her album and mine. Well, one for hers, one for mine. So two colabs! I dont think I was supposed to tell anyone though...”Well dont worry, the whole world will know in a few weeks anyway. As she picks up her iPhone she squeals and runs about, not realising, as we do neither, that we’ve been sitting, chatting and gossiping for well over 2 hours and she is now an hour late for a photoshoot for her album cover. So is that what those skyscraper heels are poking out of your bag?“Well, yeah, I like to be dramatic. As I said, my music, it’s also my style.”Wait one last quick question!

We ask as she’s teetering about with her fur hat around her eyes trying to drink the remains of her tea through the straw. Are you glad to be back?“Definitely! I missed you guys!”

If you want to ask Lilianna any more questions then post them on our Cliché blog and she will answer them personally in her video chat, Monday at 7pm.
