A. Loading the batteries1. Check that the camera is
turned off (set the Powerswitch to “OFF”) beforeopening the battery cover.
2. Load the batteries correctlyas indicated by the polarityicons.Press on the battery cover topush the batteries down.Slide the battery cover closed.
1. Align the gold marking on thexD-Picture Card slot with thegold contact area on the xD-Picture Card™ and push thecard firmly all the way intothe slot.Close the slot cover.

The “Found New Hardware” help message appears in thebottom-right corner of your screen. This message will closewhen the settings are completed. No action is required.FinePixViewer starts up automatically.

3. Turn your camera off.
4. If you have one, plug the AC power adapter connector intothe “DC IN 5V” socket on the camera and then plug theadapter itself into the main power outlet, otherwise be sureyour batteries are fresh and charged.
5. Turn your PC on.
6. Connect the camera to the PC using the USB cable (mini-B).
7. Set the Power switch to “w”.
A. Install SoftwareDo not connect the camera to your PC until the softwareinstallation is completed.
1. Turn on your PC and start up Windows.●! Users of Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP should log in
by using a system administrator account (e.g. “Administrator”).
2. Quit all other active applications until no applications areshown in the taskbar.
3. Load the enclosed CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. Theinstaller starts up automatically.
4. The Setup screen appears.Click the [Install ingFinePixViewer] button.
5. After installation completed, press [Close] button.
B. Connect the Camera to your PC1. Load an xD-Picture Card containing photographed images
into your camera.
2. Set the Power switch to “w” to turn the camera on.Select “¶” DSC in “ò” USB MODE in the “˜” SET-UPmenu (Refer to “USING THE SET-UP SCREEN” in theowner’s manual).

C. Save Images1. The Save Image Wizard starts up. Click the [Start] button.
2. Check that the files are downloaded from the camera to yourPC and that a folder with the date is created.
Ex. \My Documents \ My Pictures \ 2005_0824
D. View Images1. Click the [Show List of Images]
button.
2. Select “Preview” in the View menu to display an enlarged image.
