FINANCIAL UPDATE FOR THE MONTH OF MAY

As you might recall, the main thrust of my last year’s State of the Parish Address was “Greater Focus on the Eucharist”

and part of what we did to demonstrate this was our sanctuary renovations which relocated the Tabernacle to a position

of prominence in our Church. � e Eucharist, undoubtedly continues to occupy a central place in our parish as the “Source

and Summit of our Faith.”

In this year’s Address, I indicated that our focus will be on Stewardship. � rough this, we would like to appreciate that

everything, and I mean literally everything we have is from God and we should therefore, receive, cultivate and share them

generously with our parish. In so doing, always remember my African Kiswahili saying “Ukarimu haiozi” which means,

“Generosity never decays.”

To facilitate our e� orts in implementing this focus, I have formed a Stewardship Council under the leadership of Bill

Marcotte. � ey have since, been working diligently and one of the very successfully concluded initiative of this council was

the just concluded Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace University” program which was attended by about 120 parishioners and

others from around the East Valley. We have also recently done our commitment drive and results of this exercise are being

compiled and I will share it with you as soon as they are completed. However, for those families that have not yet still � lled

their forms, please, do so at the front o� ce.

I also promised to be providing you monthly � nancial report and so here is the Financial Summary Report for the Month of

May, 2018.

Please note that there will be variations from month to month sometimes posting losses or even none because of the nature

of expenses incurred in that month in the various accounts. For instance, whereas we were positive (pro� t) in the April

report, last month in our Maintenance and Development account, we are this time reporting a loss of $4,736.65. � is is

because of our parking lot re-surface was just done as well as AC Repairs.

As was pointed out in previous articles, the plate income is supposed to run the activities and programs of the parish.

� ese include among others: payroll, water, lighting & air conditioning, o� ce supplies, candles and church supplies, gi�

shop inventory, janitorial supplies, kitchen supplies, copier monthly lease, phone bills, internet bills, website maintenance,

Rectory bills, diocesan assessments which includes Bishop’s assessments, liability, property and auto mobile insurance,

Sunday envelopes, program expenses, hospitality expenses, Easter Tent/audio visual expenses, sacramental wine and hosts.

� e Maintenance and Development Income covers our Audio Visual System in the Church, the AC – New and

Maintenance of Existing air conditioners, maintenance equipment purchases for landscaping, parking lot stripping, sealing,

coating, security cameras, carpet cleaning, back up emergency batteries for Church, Computer upgrades/network.

I am happy to note that we are beginning to see some increase in our plate income. I am very grateful to you all for this and

Fatima (Part

Father Mitch Pacwa, of EWTN, told a Living Fatima Conference

audience of 600 people in Great Falls-Billings, Montana in October,

1917, that “Consecration to Our Lady is not about making us really

nice. Consecration to Our Lord through consecration to the Blessed

Virgin Mary includes a theme that has pretty much been put in the

background---namely the role of Christian combat. And Our Lady

is very much a part of that combat, on lots of di� erent levels. We also

need to be about that kind of combat.”

He further explained that this combat is against evil, deception

and unrighteousness. “If we choose to be consecrated to Our Lord

through the Blessed Virgin Mary, then we will also have to take on

this aspect that we, too, will be called into combat, just as the little

children at Fatima were called to do. � ey were invited, were they

not? ‘You’ll su� er much. Are you willing to do that?’ And they said,

‘yes,’ and they didn’t know what that was going to mean, but they

found out---because combat is hard.”

We must begin the second Fatima century with a renewed resolve

to bring about the triumph of the Immaculate Heart by committing

ourselves to being disciples of Our Lady, willing at all costs to bring

souls to Jesus. Father Mitch assures us that “the three-star and

four-star generals that we were taught to admire in World War II

history are peanuts when compared to Our Lady, who is a 12-star

general. And this consecration to our 12-star general is going to get

us involved in the con� ict against evil, and we have to have that clear

sense of turning away from that evil. So, this is a battle cry! � at’s

why our baptismal vows, which we renew every Easter are important.

Do you reject Satan? Yes. � at’s going to get you into combat.”

What are some of the spiritual tools that we as Catholics have

available to do combat against Satan? Prayer, especially the Rosary,

is a major tool of combat. Next to the Mass, the Rosary is the most

powerful prayer. Other spiritual combat weapons include: Attending

Mass--consider attending Mass another day or two beside Sunday;

Frequenting the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist and Confession;

Reading and praying scripture; Wearing a miraculous medal, cross

or other sacramentals; Loving our neighbor without condition;

Placing our trust in Jesus’ Divine Mercy in good times and bad. We

as Catholics are blessed to have an abundance of spiritual weapons,

and their power against Satan is signi� cant and should never to be

Habitat for Humanity Blessing & Dedication – June 23, 2018

Please join us in welcoming the Shire Family to their new home

at 1937 E. Don Carlos Ave. in Temp. � e dedication and house

blessing will be on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 9 AM. We would like

to thank everyone for your prayers, ! nancial donation as well as

assistance with the build along with the delicious lunches that were

provided to all of the volunteers. � is build would not have been

possible without your generosity. We hope to see you at the house

dedication!

Just a reminder, the summer months of June, July and August

are the designated months for the Habitat for Humanity in-pew

collection although donations throughout the year are encouraged

and appreciated. Our next scheduled coalition build will be in
