Understanding Organisational Culture

Total marks = 15 (written report = 10 + Presentation = 5)

DEADLINE Monday 4th May 2015 (1:00 pm) submit both hard and soft copy of the

project. Only 1 member from each group will submit the work. Please coordinate and

communicate with your group members to avoid multiple submissions.

Presentations (soft copy) will also be submitted along with the project work.

Deadlines are non-negotiable so start work early. 1 absolute mark will be deducted for

late submissions.

Write a 1,500 2,500 word report presenting details of the corporate culture in an

organisation in the local market (public, private or non-profit sector).

Font: Times New Roman Font size: 12 Headings font size: 16. JUSTIFY the text when

formatting.

The word count excludes any appendices. You will be working in your assigned groups.

In the report, please:

Introduce the organisation.

Briefly describe the overall management system in the organisation.

Provide details of the culture of the organisation covering all the key areas discussed in

class.

How does the company respond to ethical and social issues?

What is the decision making process in the company and how much does it affect the

overall culture of the organization?

When you go to an organisation to gather data, you must prepare a semi-structured

interview guide listing 10 15 questions that you will be asking. Please attach your

interview guide with the assignment as an appendix.

Conclude the report by comparing and contrasting the ideal organisational culture and the

actual culture of the particular organisation that you have chosen, making suggestions for

improvement (if required).

Also find out if the company ever tried to change the culture of the organization. If yes,

were they successful and to what extent. If no, why not and what were the challenges the

company faced.

Try to make your report interesting. You can include pictures of the organization (with the

permission of the organization) and include some interesting facts about the company.

You are also required to prepare a 1-2 minute video, depicting the culture of the

organisation under study.
