Making your favorite cookie
• Cool Kids in the Kitchen

Learn the Lingo
Bake: to cook food in the oven
Chill: to place a food in the refrigerator to make it cold
Combine: to mix ingredients together. Most often this is done in a bowl
Slice: to use a knife to cut a food into pieces that are the same thickness
Kitchen Gadgets
Heat resistant spatula
Dry measuring cups
Liquid measuring cups
Measuring spoons
Table knife
Oven mitts
Cookie sheet
Wax paper
Wooden spoon
Wire cooling rack
Food You’ll Need 1 teaspoon of vanilla
¾ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup packed brown sugar
1 cup softened margarine or butter
1 egg
2 ¼ cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 package of semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup of coarsely chopped nuts (optional)
Step 1
Heat the oven to 375 degrees and crack eggs into bowl.
Step 2
Mix both sugars, butter, vanilla, and egg in a large bowl with a wooden spoon.
Stir in flour, baking soda and salt. Mix well. Stir in any type of chocolate chips, M&M’s, or nuts.
Step 3
Scoop out dough and blob on paper
Step 4
Turn paper so cookie dough is facing you and form into the shape of a long snake. Roll it up.
Step 5
Chill dough in freezer
Step 6
Slice dough into even pieces
Step 7
Place onto un-greased cookie sheet
Step 8
Bake until lightly brown 8-10 minutes
Step 9
Using oven mitts carefully remove from oven
Step 10
Place cookies on wire cooling rack for 1 minute. Enjoy!
