Building on the tradition of the Sustainable Transport Debate in BAQ 2010, two teams will debate the motion that restrictions in the number of new vehicles as currently being practiced in Singapore and the three largest Chinese cities: Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai needs to be integral part of an effective sustainable urban transport policy. Cities in countries like India, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam and others will succumb to the pressures of increased private motorization unless similar restrictions are put in place.
