Activity 1: Identify 9 blogs (3 about technology, 3 about Business/ Finance, and 3 about entertainment). Now they are presented in the same order mentioned previously3 Technology blogs:

1) Gigaom is the first blog related to technology, and its purpose is to provide a timely and in depth analysis of the technology. It was founded in 2006, and currently this blog is the leading global voice on emerging technologies. Its news, research and events empower its subscribers with a deep insight on disruptive companies, people and trends in order to better understand the new business opportunities that are taking place. For instance, by looking at the first news in the screenshot below, we can appreciate how a private company, Atlassian, is trying to go into public. This step is made when the owners of a company want to trade their shares publicly looking for funds in order to get into more investment opportunities. This blog has actually an average more than 6.5 million monthly unique readers.

2) Mashable is a leading global media company that informs, inspires and entertains the digital generation. Mashable is redefining storytelling by documenting and shaping the digital revolution in a new voice, new formats and cutting-edge technologies to a uniquely dedicated audience of 45 million monthly unique visitors and 25 million social followers. In the picture on the right hand side, we can read about a curious and innovative Canine Home Intelligent Pet already packed with many sensors. For instance, the head alone has an array of carefully hidden infrared sensors that give it a 360-degree view, which it uses to find its special ball and charging bed. CHiP also has Bluetooth so it can connect with its special Smart Band. Owners wear the band to send the robot dog likes, and to help CHiP keep track of you. As well, CHiP can sit, squat down, shimmy, dance around and make all sorts of dog sounds.

3) ZDNet brings together the reach of global and the depth of local, delivering 24/7 news coverage and analysis on the trends, technologies and opportunities that matter to IT professionals and decision makers. Whatever the role in the IT buying cycle, ZDNet provides support from investigating options to optimizing a solution. Whether you want to follow hot topics or emerging trends, or keep up to date with the latest news and events, ZDNet is the destination for professionals seeking to research technology-related issues, and solve business technology problems. At a glance, a blog related to Cloud computing caught my attention since it encompasses everything from Google Apps to data center services to virtualization to software-, infrastructure- and platform-as-a service. Key players include IBM, HP, Google, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Salesforce, NetSuite and VMware.

 3 Business Financial blogs:

1) Business Insider: if you are looking for all manner of business and economic news, as well as Wall Street gossip and what's hot on the Web, Business Insider is the best place to go. Unfortunately, more and more of the content on the blog is basically plucked from elsewhere without a lot of original analysis or reporting. But Business Insider, which is headed by former Wall Street analyst Henry Blodget, does a good job of picking its stories. A recent photo gallery of what hotels look like in brochures versus what they look like in person was a lot of fun. And when Blodget does write, it is usually worth the click.

2) DEALBREAKER: The site is run by Bess Levin, a humorist cum reporter who has successfully managed to turn Wall Street's biggest names into cartoon characters, and into her most loyal readers. The site feels like a mashup of Page Six and Bloomberg News. The articles may be laced with humor, but beneath all that wit lies a remarkable truth that often cuts closer to reality than more sober news reports. Bess's trick is that she is not laughing at Wall Street; she is laughing with them. As a result of Bess's frequent potty mouth, many financial institutions block the site, but that has not stopped a fiercely loyal group of readers from making their way to Dealbreaker and adding their comments.

3) Digg delivers the most interesting and talked about stories on the Internet right now. Digg captures a snapshot of all of the Web’s hottest streams. Then it presents a smart, gorgeous, editorially coherent digest of what’s popular online. Other sites have attempted this, but the new Digg is the first place that does it well. The story of Digg's comeback tells us a lot about how the web has matured over the last decade. In brief, this entertainment blog makes fly our imagination in a comic manner.

It helps us to manage our own professional identity, and assess to the different job opportunities and trends. Besides, having a good photo that you use across all networks says something about you. It says that you are professional and care about your public image.

LinkedIn is a network for business professionals. It is different than other social networking sites like Facebook because it is designed specifically for professional networking, finding a job, discovering sales leads, connecting with potential business partners rather than simply making friends or sharing media like photos, videos and music.

Talking about the recommendation feature, it is a key way to recommend other potential assets to the different companies that are virtually looking for them.

Additionally, the following and groups features serve as a picture to demonstrate your interest as well as your curiosity about some controversial news that are taking place all around the world.

The last feature I would like to highlight is Job in which you can find interesting job opening within the boundary of your country. Here you have how my profile looks like on LinkedIn.

Activity 4: Create a blog using any blog tool such as wordpress.com.This part of the project made me feel ignorant in the sense that this tool was already on the internet, but I did not know anything about it. This is a great tool for communicating because you not only post photos but also see photos from others. According to the article named “Importance of wordPress”, Word Press is open source software. Like all open source software, when an upgrade comes out, the details of that upgrade are made public. If one of them is a security fix, then someone with malicious intent could use that information to their advantage potentially hacking into any Word Press website that has not been upgraded in the meantime. It’s best to upgrade your Word Press installation as soon as a security fix is released. It Helps Ensure Compatibility with New Plugins.

Page 16: Final presentation on web 2.0 review

I also find interesting the fact that we can have followers, we can like pictures; see the profile of someone else and so on which seems to be very entertaining. Nevertheless, it is extremely crucial to state that all these tools that we have discussed previously which is all about social media play a crucial role in our daily lives because they keep us in touch with one another, and they also keep us informed of what is going around the world which is something very productive.

By trial and error technique I started to type my first blog due to the fact that I had not used this tool before. Here I realized that we can write everything we want, and update it at anytime we please to do it. As well, we can find recommended blogs to enhance our writing style.
