PROJECT MANAGEMENT

• A project is an organized Endeavour which take significant amount of time to complete and are large-scale or complex enough to be recognized and so managed as separate undertakings.

• Operation manger must often organize project team to plan and control projects.

• The project team must work to tight time schedule, adhere to strict budgets, report to top management personal of the organization and be temporarily removed from their regular jobs.

PROJECT LIFE CYCLE:

• PLANNING PHASE:• Planning of sufficient for initial scheduling of

activities, budgeting of projects is done.• ORGANISATION PHASE:• In this phase the bill of material and division of the

total work in to major packages is to be accomplished.

• Personal and other resources necessary to accomplish the project are then made available for all or portion of the project’s duration through temporary assignments from other parts of the organization or subcontracting portions of the project.

• EXECUTION PHASE:• The various activities planned are completed as per

the schedule, utilizing the allotted resources.

• TERMINATION PHASE:• This is the phase during which the project is

terminated or disbanded after completion.

• The personnel who were working in the project are assigned back their regular jobs or to the other jobs in the organization or to other projects in this phase.

Planning Phase

• Preparation of bridge design

• Estimation of cost for it includes,

– Estimation of raw material & inventory requirement

– Storage space for raw material

– Estimation of unskilled human resource

– Estimation of skilled human resource

– Estimation of Material Handling Equipment

– Utility Equipment Requirement

PREPARATION OF BRIDGE DESIGN INCLUDES

– Civil Department : This department prepares blue print design of bridge structure and estimate requirement of raw material. This department includes civil engineers and architectures.

– Mechanical Department: This departments deals with checking strength of material, Load carrying capacity, stability and designing of actual structure of fly over bridge that gives stable and reliable and long life of flyover bridge. It includes mechanical engineers.

• Electrical department: This department is dealing with providing supporting activities such as providing power necessary for carrying out processes involved in project. It includes electrical engineers. Equipment such as motor and generators, lighting are required at site.

• Procurement Department: This department coordinate with all departments and procure all the required raw materials, equipments according to quality specified by them and provide it at right time.

HUMAN RESOURCE REQUIREMENT

• 5 Architectures• 5 Civil engineers• 3 Electrical and 3 Mechanical engineers• 50 Unskilled workers daily • 5 Site supervisors

APPROXIMATE DAYS REQUIRED FOR ACTIVITIES

1. Preliminary mapping survey : 2 days

2. Diverting road traffic : 2-3 days

3. Foundation of soil preparation : 10-15 days

4. Initial Procurement of material : 1 month before

5. Lead time for order : 1 day

6. Preparation of steel works : 1 day before

7. Preparation of 50 girder : 2 months before

8. Preparation of each pillar : 5-7 days

9. Total Slab time period : 2-3 months11

10. Road leveling and tar bedding : 10-20 days11. Lighting on bridge : 10-15 days 12. Footpath & parapet wall : 25-30 days13. Finishing work : 20-40 days

• Schedule meeting are arranged between supervisor, head engineers and project managers after every 20 days or completion of 10% of total work.

STORAGE• We have an established central store & fabrication & maintenance

workshop near KAMRAG CIRCLE, SURAT in an area of 15787 Sq.m.

• Storage and Inventory for all equipment and spares are maintained by qualified personnel.

• It also stores raw material required for construction.• Central Store is well connected with all sites and Head Office by

Telephone, Fax, Mobile Phone, Wireless system.• It includes cranes for moving raw material, • Girders and other building blocks which fit on girders blocks.

Cement mixer is used at site for prepare mixer of cement, sand and Stone.
