When our drinking water leaves the waterworks it is clean and free from contaminants. Unfortunately as the water travels through the supply network itpicks up dirt particles along the way. By installing a filter, the majority of undissolved materials in the water can be removed. This prevents operating faults and costly repairs.

The filter materials in our equipment are perfectly suited to depth filtrations. Different pore diameters enable accurate filtration at different filtration ratings. The material can also be used as a moulding for specifically tailored solutions. This ensures that the shape and properties can be adjusted individually to yourrequirements.

Quality and versatility are appealing. Our products are used in a variety of different applications:

Drinking water filtration (e.g. domestic water filtration)

Process water filtration

Air filtration (e.g. for electronic devices such as inhalers)

Oil filtration

Lab equipment

Functional faults are often caused by rust sludge inthe heating system. The heat flowmeters, thermostatvalves, circulation pumps and boilers are often affected, although it can even block the circulation of entireheating circuits. The dreaded perforation corrosioncan occur in boilers that are designed with minimalwater-wetted surfaces. If the temperature is just in-creased by 10°, the corrosion speed of such boilersis doubled.

Deposits on otherwise corrosion-resistant materialscan also results in fast destruction (pitting corrosion)if the deposits displace the oxygen resulting in a circulation of air. Sludge deposits in the boiler alsoreduce the transfer of heat. They cause considerablethermomechanical stresses which can ultimately generate cracks. Local overheating in the boiler causeboiling and stress noises which consequently con-sumes more power. At a time when energy costs arerising this is not something desirable.

Boiler manufacturers therefore recommend installinga protective filter for the heating water. Fitting a pro-tective filter on old heating systems is particularly important because the pipework is often badly ob-structed by limescale and other deposits. A decisionon whether the system is flushed out before installingthe filter must be made on site.

The KÖPP protective filter for heating water has amuch larger filtration surface than conventional smallfilter units, which means that it offers better filtrationrates and a longer service life.

Application rangeMax. temperature 90°C (for short periods: max. 110°C),operating pressure PN10

VersionFilter head and bowl made of brass; filter bowl with1/2" sealing plug; filter cartridge made of stainlesssteel, filtration rating of 500µ. A filtration rating of50µ, 100µ or 200µ can be installed upon request; all seals are made of EPDM.

AssemblyHorizontal mounting between two shut-off devices inthe heating return circuit. Fit so that the direction offlow indicated on the filter head is observed.

To trap magnetic particles such as magnetite (Fe3O4)in the heating water, we provide a magnetic rod suit-able for fitting to various carriers: such as the ZV-magnetic filter with flange connection or internalthread connection and the MSM adapter magneticfilter. The magnetic rod is positioned in such a waythat it can trap magnetic particles approaching fromall sides in the heating water flow. This prevents as-sembly or wear deposits and other extraneous materialin the feed water causing damage to measurement, control and conveying equipment – as specified in DIN 4713 for closed-circuit plants, in particular heating systems.

The magnet is completely wear-resistant. Retrofitsand overhauls are thus no longer necessary as longas no individual components are randomly damaged.

Coarse filtering is performed by also fitting a stainlesssteel mesh filter cartridge. Single filters mounted inthe flow direction immediately upstream from the armature to be protected offer the best protectionagainst magnetite and dirt in the heating water. Theinstallation of a central filter only makes sense in aheating system which is new and has undergone mul-tiple flushing cycles.

The MSM adapter magnetic filter comes as stan-dard with a stainless steel filter cartridge(70/197 mm) with a filtration rating of 600 µ. Ifsuitable, filter cartridges with ratings of 100 µ, 200 µ,400 µ and 800 µ can also be installed upon request.

Application rangeMax. temperature: 120°C, rated pressure PN10;If continuously operated at high temperatures, theseals may need to be replaced more frequently.

VersionBrass filter body; filter cartridge made of stainlesssteel; EPDM O-rings and seals• Magnetic rod with reverse flow directionor• Stainless steel filter cartridge with magnetic ring and standard flow direction

AssemblyHorizontal mounting between two shut-off devices. We recommend fitting a draining device on the sec-tion of piping that can be shut off. The direction offlow indicated on the filter must be observed duringassembly. The inflowing water first flows around themagnetic rod and then passes through the stainlesssteel filter cartridge from the inside to the outside.

MaintenanceCheck the filter for the first time shortly after instal-lation. The amount of magnetite and waste found inthe filter on this occasion is used to determine whenthe next service is required. The filter should be ser-viced at least once a year before the heating periodbegins. Clean the magnetic rod and the filter cartridgewith a water or compressed air jet and a brush and rags.

Its small dimensions make the magnetic filter withinternal thread the perfect protective filter forequipment. The connection sizes and nominal dia-meters must be designed in such a way that the re-levant filter flow rates are at least as large as thearmature or piping systems that need to be protected. In older systems, a larger version is recommendeddue to the larger magnetic rods and filter surfaces. In such a case, the MSM adapter magnetic filter (seepage 10) will be more suitable.

Application rangeMax. temperature 200°C, rated pressure PN 16

VersionFilter body made of red bronze with flat gasket, Exception: Connection sizes DN 65 and DN 80 aremade of brass; ZV magnetic filters with internal threadare fitted the stainless steel filter cartridges withfiltration ratings of 250 µ and 600 µ.

AssemblyHorizontal or vertical mounting between two shut-offdevices. The vertical version can only be mounted onthe delivery pipe. On large diameter pipes we recom-mend fitting a draining and venting device on the sec-tion of piping that can be shut off. The direction offlow indicated on the filter must be observed duringassembly. The inflowing water first flows around themagnetic rod and then passes through the stainlesssteel filter cartridge from the inside to the outside.

MaintenanceCheck the filter for the first time shortly after installa-tion. The amount of magnetite and waste found in thefilter on this occasion is used to determine when thenext service is required. The filter should be servicedat least once a year before the heating period begins.Clean the magnetic rod and filter cartridge with awater or compressed air jet and a brush and rags.

To trap magnetic particles such as magnetite (Fe3O4)in the heating water, we provide a magnetic rod suit-able for fitting to various carriers: such as the ZV-magnetic filter with flange connection or internalthread connection and the MSM adapter magneticfilter. The magnetic rod is positioned in such a way thatit can trap magnetic particles approaching from allsides in the heating water flow. This prevents assemblyor wear deposits and other extraneous material in thefeed water causing damage to measurement, controland conveying equipment – as specified in DIN 4713for closed-circuit plants, in particular heating systems.
