Film production

Writer-Screen writers create the screenplay for the film, the screen-play is basically the blueprint of the film then the director and pro-ducers will add their own stamp to make it into the film. The screen play has to include the story line and basic scenes and characters so that the director can either add to it or take things away from it to make it into the film they imagine whilst reading the screenplay. The writer will usually make a basic script with the story line and characters and then have help from a screenwriter team to help them finish the full script and have a finished product.

Producer-Producers have overall control on a films production. Produc-ers are mainly responsible for creating an environment where the actors and director are able to do their best. They are also responsible for the success of the finished film. Producers will also choose the screenwriter and the story edit-ing team, this is crucial as the editing makes the film, this can be seen with the new fantas-tic four as the editing ruined the movie. Before they start making the film they get key members of the creative screen like the director and cinematographer together to raise money for the film.

Casting director-They are responsible for matching the ideal actor to each role, based on a number of factors, such as the actor's experience, ability, reputation, availability and box office appeal. Casting Directors also work closely with Production Accountants to prepare the casting budget. They organise and conduct interviews and auditions for each part, and are also in charge of offering each actor an appropriate fee to appear in the film. They also draw up and negotiate the terms and conditions of contracts with

agents.

Director-Directors are responsible for creatively translating the film's written script into actual images and sounds on the screen. They are ultimately responsible for a film's artistic and commercial success or failure. Directors may write the film's script or commis-sion it to be written, or they may be hired after an early draft of the script is complete. During pre-production, Directors make cru-cial decisions, such as selecting the right cast, crew and locations for the film. They then direct rehearsals and the performances of

the actors once the film is in production.

Film finance-An aspect of film production that occurs during the development stage prior to pre-production, and is concerned with determining the potential value of a proposed film. In the United States, the value is typically based on a forecast of re-venues (generally 10 years for films and 20 years for television shows), beginning with theatrical release, and including DVD sales, and release to cable broadcast television networks both domestic and international and inflight airline licensing.

Camera operator-They are usually the first people to use the camera's eyepiece to assess how all the elements of performance, art direction, lighting, composition and camera movement come together to create the cinematic experience. Camera Op-

erators usually start at the end of pre-production with other Heads of Department. They work closely with the Director of Photography.

Film editor- Film editing is part of the creative post-production process of filmmak-ing.The film editor works with the raw footage, selecting shots and combining them into sequences to create a finished motion picture. Film editing is described as an art or skill, the only art that is unique to cinema, separating filmmaking from other art forms that preceded it, although there are close parallels to the editing process in other art forms like poetry or novel writing.

Production designer- Production designers are responsible for the visual concept of a film, television or theatre production. They identify a design style for sets, loca-tions, graphics, props, lighting, camera angles and costumes, while working closely with the director and producer. Working directly with the director and producer, they must select the settings and style to visually tell the story.

Marketing- Marketing is the practice of promotion specifically in the film industry, and usually occurs in coordination with the process of film distribution. Sometimes called the press junket or film junket, film promotion generally includes press re-leases, advertising campaigns, merchandising and media, and interviews with the key people involved with the making of the film, like actors and directors.[1] As with all business it is an important part of any release because of the inherent high fi-nancial risk.

Exhibition- Cinema exhibition is still the primary channel for films to reach their au-diences and box office success equals financial success. Cinemas are the biggest and most important market for a film. Because success at the box office guarantee a high amount of revenues, from DVDs to broadcast and more.
