SHORT FILM REVIEWSara Avramovska

Analysis of website layout

THE NOTE BOOK

http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/the-notebook-2004The reader is immediately introduced to who the characters are played by (the cast). This allows the reader to possibly recognize popular actors such as ‘’Ryan Gosling as Young Noah Calhoun’’ which they may admire therefore they are more likely to go and watch the film themselves.

Film posters have been used since the earliest exhibitions of films and in this case the movie poster of ‘’The Notebook’ is featuring the main characters of the film along with the year that it was released. The text of film posters usually contains the film title and possibly the director of the film however in this case I believe that the director of the movie has not been introduced therefore it does distract the audience from the passion, romance expressed in the photograph itself.

• Star Ratings.• The review• The date it was

published. The Title can be related to the first impression of the film as well as summarizing the plot of the film. It is important that the title is addressed within the movie review as Intertextuality (the relationship between texts, especially literary ones.) is linked throughout the posters, movie scenes, reviews and movie titles mainly focusing on the main characters of the film.

The color scheme is neutral offering the viewer a calming mood with the website’s professional and classic outcome overall.

Twitter is another way of gaining access to the target in order to promote the movie. For example if the actor Ryan Gosling uses twitter to tweet information related to the movie itself, he is being followed by fans all around the world therefore increasing the popularity and amount of film viewers. The trailer of the movie also acts as an important factor linked to this. ( Why?! Addressed in he following slide)

The target audience is most likely to be of the female gender from young teenagers to possibly even elderly woman. The poster itself and the shot of a movie scene has a very strong emotional sense of love and intimacy which will evoke an emotional response in woman particularly triggering excitement therefore they are more likely to watch the film.

Considering the male gender as a target audience, I believe they are immediately alienated just by looking at this website and the romance and passion addressed within it. The poster as an example, makes it a feminine looking movie as men are stereotypically associated with action, comedy, horror and thriller genre of movies.

My Chosen Short Film Review

In search for inspiration, I have stumbled upon an online site called http://iloveshortfilms.com. The website enables it’s audience not to only watch short movies for free, however to also submit their own. iLoveShortFilms.com are a small group of script writers who have been bought together in order to provide feedback and tips on shot film submitters on how to improve and become exceptional filmmakers themselves. I believe that once we have produced our own short film, we could possibly submit to this particular site in order to gain audience feedback that are capable to access al over the world to this website and provide an honest opinion as their view will not be affected with factors such as friendship .
